Question is being only a seasonal rider my bike tends to sit for periods of times. I tend to drain the tank & carby at the end of the winter riding period. Was watching ifish the other night & saw http://www.sta-bil.com.au/about_sta-bil.html featured on it. After they were talking about crud build up from old fuel in tanks/carbs/fuel lines it got me thinking i might be causing a problem here, should i be using this stuff? my bike has never had any starting issues or idling/running problems....you know the old say about not fixing something unless its broken...well my bike isnt broken but in saying that i dont want it to broken...Ive never been told to use this stuff before so should i?

no dont use it, use the quad instead and that will keep the fuel fresh, but on the other hand are these machines so bloody precious that "crud" builds up in the fuel system if we dont use it over summer, mate write on your calender over summer once a fortnight to run it for 5-10 minutes, easy peasy.

I'm with Yogie, put an old set of tyres on it and rip a skid in the shed every now and then.

I would do it anyway, but only the workshop end of my shed is concrete, where I park the bike is dirt.

i dont know if this product works or not, but i do know fuel goes shitty after about a month, sometimes more sometimes less, depending on how it's stored. draining the tank and carby bowl during extended periods of no use is a good idea, although traditionalists would say that it could be detrimental to carby gaskets. but as most carbies have only a bowl gasket, and a lot of them are rubber these days, it shouldnt be an issue

for the amount of time that yours sits for JB it wouldn't be worth it, you should be starting it regularly over summer when you don't ride though.

I don't like leaving fuel in my fuel tank or carby for very long periods. If I have fuel in a quad and I'm not going to ride it anytime soon, I drain it out and either put in my mower, a jerry can or the cars.

My 250EX sits for very long periods. Prior to pro-longed storage I change the oil/filter and clean the air filter. I drain the tank and carby. I then put a small amount of engine oil down the spark plug hole and crank the engine a few times. The battery is taken out and is on a maintenance charger.

Never had an issue doing this, but it only needs to be done on extended sits.

if you want a fuel treatment
have a look for stuff called
F-10 it's made by ICT
it is actually good stuff
it works on diesel-petrol and 2 stoke fuels it helps stop fuel going stale and on diesels stops algea and will break down water some of the mining companys around kalgoorlie use it to keep there fuel good
its the only stuff i recomend to customers and i work in fuel injection
it's like cummins fuel set. some of the trucking guy will know that stuff

Big JB, i believe Briggs and Stratton make a fuel preserver.u may get it from mower shops etc. i am told by some farmers it is very good.
