hey guys just after your opinion. Im seriously considering buying a 2008 ltr 450. it has 2009 black plastics, nerf bars, kill switch, full exhaust pipe, fuel managment, cherry bomb, flex bars and kn filter. its still on its original tyres with very little use. its a very clean respectable looking bike and has been serviced regularly. just want everyones opinions on what they think of these bikes and what they would possibly expect to pay for a bike like this? ive been told that these bikes as a stock package are the best to set up for racing, is this true? just want some feedback as to what everyone thinks. cheers peeps, and happy riding

If its the right price you won't find better.

Just make sure its had the billet 3rd gears installed otherwise when they let go you will be in financial distress

How well do you know the seller?

Are they the only owner?

Does it have an hour meter?

Original tyres means nothing and it isn't unusual to put the original tyres back on at selling time.

Redbook trade in price is:
2008 is $5,500 - $6,600
December 2008 is $5,800 - $6,800
Don't use the private price guide cause no-one pays that for used quads.

If your not mechanically minded, it would be wise to take a mate that is prior to purchasing. Even if it costs you a counter lunch for him to inspect it.

i have an 08 ltr has never given me a problem has been raced & ridden hard since i got it new early in 09.
stock tyres are not real good so they could have been changed sounds like its got some extras an hour meter is the best way to tell how much work its done
i reckon around $6000 -$7000

(END)...

If they can take off the tyres and store em till sale time..they can do the same with an Hour Meter..

Have had an 07/08 &010 still got the 08 &010 all been good bikes, put a 3rd gear in the 08 after 90 hours . They are a good alround bike, if the one your looking at has the extras and it`s tidy , i`d say 7 would be about the money, maybe more if it`s that good.

I have the 2008 model.
Nothing ever goes wrong.
Now doing my 3rd Finke on it.
There is a lot of talk about 3rd gear failing, but I believe that it is relevant to pre 2008 models.
If it has a kill switch, it has been raced
If it has a fuel controller, the engine has been rebuild, and there is probably a high comp piston in it.
Still a good buy.
Recommend it.

No, 3rd gear fails in 08 onwards, pre 08 have small gearbox issues of their own. It's really not that big of a problem in the 08 anyway, once they've been replaced with billet ones they'll last a lot longer.

Jono the way your post reads, it looks like no 08 models ever have a problem laughing

It think it should read 08 onwards have the 3rd gear problem. Put the billet gears in them and its all better. Well sort of. I had the early 08 billet gears and they lasted 50-70 hrs estimated before they let go. Now have the newer improved model which should be better again

never say nothing ever goes wrong cause just as you say it - something will
i had an 07 - just sold it, awsome bike no 3rd gear issues, did 3 Hyden 300's, 1 indee 500 and many x country enduros no problems to speak of.

i wouldnt say just because a bike has a kill swith it has been raced - plenty of weekend riders that dont race have kill switches fitted in case they come off.

both the 07 & my new 2010 bikes have fuel controllers - neither has been rebuilt, std motors with yosh exhausts and k & n air filters.

i'd say its an excellent buy - i would buy it Wink

Haha yeah my mistake, fixed it now i think...
and yes the new gears are a big step up on the first type of gears we were making.
