Yep. The media must have a big room of dead horses to flog.
I see they are having another Pauline bash because to old red head/neck ( You choose...) is going to have another crack at politics........
Back on topic though,
As a work place health and safety thing, the pro ROPS people will flog this forever. And that debate can stay in the workplace IMO.
But I don't see any government making the fittings of ROPS to all quads sold ever really happening any time soon, Priesty..........
Consultation, ADR's, enforcement and legislation would all bring attention to the fact that they've been ignoring us for a long time.
Unless someone on a quad runs amuck and kills scores of people at a popular tourist destination that is.

If its only farmers getting into trouble, just FORCE them to have some training
AND wear a helmet .That should sort out most of the problem and leave us (rec riders ) the hell alone, apart from rego!!!I relise that life on the land can't be easy but a few simple precautions has gotta help.I have never seen a farmer ride a quad properly, shifting weight etc.And how would they if no-one shows them?
gazman. ps i left a comment but it has not been shown.

Well truth be known...there is probably a PEPS ROPS being developed now...mainly for KTM's...but will fit any quad with some work. Will be the best on the planet...and be better than the FOX ROPS being released soon also

I think your stirrin there Craig!!!

I like the comment that Gazman made about forcing farmers to wear helmets it is already illegal for them to not wear a helmet!! But good luck doing that!! the police are already too stretched as it is you know, they are all flat out sittin in their speed camera van taking photos and preventing nothing but the goverments bank balance from going down!!!

at the end of the day they cannot force anyone to fit a roll over bar, AT ALL, why because these are are not registered and therefore have no legal requirement to be checked, and no doubt it will be "self regulated by the industeriy so the Govt doesnt have to police it or pay for it... now a registered vechile must be by legislation have what ever safety reqiiremts by law, i.e a car must be roadworthy and safe before being used, I could be wrong. I think its time to start a rego and safety campain in Vic. Very Happy

ALL the fatals they talk about...is it farmers/weedsprayers/working people or recreational riders? Have the gov thought to split the numbers?? That may show them where the problem is.

Looks like a tractor behind you yogie.... does it have a ROPS ?

I believe that all tractors (registered or not) must be fitted with Roll Bars..
there would be some out there without em, but not a lot.

My 1950's McCormic International has a ROPS on it, not registered and only used to slash paddocks ( ROPS cost more than the tractor)

The fatals in that article would be workplace stats Gary. But, if you want some numbers, for Qld, use the email below and ask for this form...
Department of Transport and Main Roads - Road Crash, Registration, Licensing and Infringement Data Request Form.

DataAnalysis@tmr.qld.gov.au

The form makes it easier for them to understand the occasional human contact.......

And Yogi is right....
"I think its time to start a rego and safety campain in Vic"
but why stop at Victoria? Most of the states are fobbing off action waiting for the National Body to do something. Evil or Very Mad

Sorry mate, it sounds like fun too.
But I've a date with some feral pigs if I get clearance from the docs to live a bit. I think Gazman is still waiting to get better also.

Like your way of thinking Todd, they would have to cut the fatality rate in Half
