Ok I'll be interested to see what comes out of this, There are plenty of riders here from racers to enduro & right down to trail riders so here's what i want from you. State the make & model of your ATV, then tell us the Pro's & Con's of your bike. I want personal opinions to gauge what ppl think of there own machines & eliminate Sh@t slinging, because its your own opinion & your own take on it there should be no right or wrongs here. _________________ 04 TRX 450r

Honda trx 700xx
Pro`s would have to be the IRS
Cons would be the weight and stock suspenders..... _________________ Phil.....

Raptor 700. 2006.
PRO's.......
Bottom end grunt.
Fuel injection.
A-arms steering stem and shocks interchange with YFZ450.
Heaps of after market parts available.
Strong engine and transmission.
Not too heavy, only 6.5KG heavier than my 400EX.
CON's.......
Too narrow, costs over a thousand (edit - cost me nearly $3000) to make them wide enough.
Plastics cost too much.
Front lights break easy.
Rear shock geometry is rubbish. (GT Thunder link will help)
Overheats too easy.
No reserve fuel feature. _________________ Cheers,

Can Am Ds450 xmx (2009)
Pros:
- awesome suspension and handling
- minor mods make the power excellent
- value for money
- plenty of support available from those behind the Australian can am team.
Cons:
- 09 heel baskets not the greatest design (fixed 2010 onwards)
- need to update the grill to 2010
- early models had minor frame issues, easily fixed though
My 09 can am is great, I love it. And I have never had any
major issues and would definately buy another if I had the money. Out of the box will be up to majority of racers level, and minor mods can make it even better! Great bike, but like all others has some minor flaws. |

Wild Hp 300 GasGas
Pro's ,
Its a 2 stroke, large fuel tank, over 50" wide standard, brembo brake's, ohlins shocks, big comfy seat, extremely light, CroMo frame, and lots more good things.
Cons.
It sucks a lot of fuel, it's a 2 stroke, vibrations, Hard to get parts, doesn't fit down most tracks and i can't get another one.
I love it, it's different and it goes like stink. i just only wish i could get smaller ones for my kids.

KTM 2008 525 xc
Pro's.
Mine is 600cc so more power than you can ever use.
Ohlins shocks
Best brakes of any atv.
Out of the box you dont need to spend a lot to be competitive
Easy to get parts ( you use a few)
Commonly broken bits are well priced (steering stem $165)
Great development in WA on the xc engine.
Cons.
Expensive stock !!
Reliability standard ( cranks flaring )
Gearbox gears falling apart
Commonly used parts are expensive ($27 for 2 oil filters)
Price changing...I paid nearly 16K as i had one of the first in WA and they drop the price as far as 12K.. |

Outlander 800R
Pros: Super comfy for all day racing.
Awesome V8 auto grunt, always there, all the time, anywhere.
4WD traction and pull through power slides as well as easy high speed braking stability.
Cons: Weight, if you get these things bouncing out of control at race speeds in big whoops it's really scary and you feel like a passenger waiting to come off... having said that, i have never actually crashed that way and the IRS seems to remarkably smoothen things out.
And the other weight issues to some degree too, like hard to change line quickly at top speeds etc.
I've been 'off track' and over the odd berm a few times. _________________ Can-Am X Team

LTR 450 2008
Pros:
engine - love the bottom to mid range
even stock suspension is good
overall quality
nothing broke down so far
did my first Finke on a stock standard bike
Cons:
not much
the front bumper too small to fit my hand in to move the quad
agree that oil changes are a bit fiddly and messy when on my stand
the standard pipe can not be repacked |
