take the wr !!
12.5 as opposed to the 13.5 compression ratio
lower 1st gear and taller 5th gear as compared to close ratio for the yzf
15 mph top end on a wr two wheeler
but the biggest difference is electric start on the wr.
thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |

They've been allowed to swap motors in one of the classes in the UK for ages and they all use the yz motor if they choose to run yamaha.
Here's a pretty nice example (apart from the PEPS ) of a suzuki used to race in their juniors....

not really todd as the proshark 90 cc 2stroke will be the bike to use in limited class it will out accelerate the 4 strokes .
if you take the apex and the cobra out we are back to ridding farm bikes again . where are the advantages ?????? |

Wow !!!!
It does fit in.
The yzf would probably be the lightest and as long as you can get the kickstarter to work without catching or fouling your foot on the nerf bars ,be the more simple fit.

This will destroy our junior ranks....there will only be three kids on the line .....1st.2nd 3rd..... who ever can't afford cheque book racing might aswell stay home. Never again will you see the best riders win.. the most money in dads wallet wins . What was wrong with what we had ??? Affordable. Quads... evenly matched.... I think this is very very wrong.

How was it evenly matched, my young bloke pulls up on the line on a honda 90 againts 11 pro sharks. Come first corner , there gone......not a hope in hell of hanging with them .
Check book racing is always going to be an issue, until we supply 20 identical quads on the day and let the kids pick which one they want to race today.
It gives us a choice on Buying more than 1 quad....... A PRO SHARK !
I'm not trying to bag Pro sharks, my kid doesnt want one, in his eyes theres Yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki and honda. |

Huskygoat,
Look at some of the money that has been put into some of the raptor 250 quads to make them competitive.$15-$20 k +.
Now you can buy an 04-05 yfz450 for $4k take the 450cc engine out and put it on the shelf until they turn 16.
Off to the wreckers to buy a yz250f engine $1-$2k.
Graft it into the yfz and you have a 37hp 250cc racer that is reliable, superquick and recyclable to the senior classes later on.
In the 90-125 cc class spend $1500 -$2000 on a trx90 ,put a double a-arm kit and extended swingarm with 400ex brakes, hubs, axle etc $2000 then put a 85cc ktm,yz etc and its bye-bye prosharks.
Not much dearer than a proshark with even more performance.
just my thoughts.
thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |

not much different to 5 kids turning up on race ready pro sharks and 7 kids on oem etons, and being raced together in the same class. top 5 places go to the pro shark kids, the eton kids don't come back, or if they do it's when the oldies have bought them a pro shark.
give one brand a monopoly and they will charge top dollar for the product, allow several brands the opportunity , and profit margins go back to fair and reasonable, and the consumer has choice. any racing is chequebook racing, but competition keeps the retailer honest. |

To be fair here you would have to say that you are only going to win on a couple of makes in the junior classes. Cobra or proshark. I keep hearing the only way to grow the sport is through the juniors but we've got people p!ssing and moaning that the rules have changed so that now the people who own prosharks or cobras no longer have the advantage and possibly have a disadvantage against the other makes. If you want affordable racing for the kids than don't limit them to just those two brands. In the pro ranks I think it's fair to say that if you put the top riders on any well equipped make they will be at the pointy end and it has been proven in the past. Can you honestly say the same about the juniors????? _________________ You Can Fix Alot Of Things In This World But...

I have no issues with making it more competitive i think thats great for the sport i Really dont care what kids ride as most know my son started racing on an ebay special Remember in senior quads the manufacturers have made alot of improvements for performance but you cant say the same for junior quads especially the 90cc-125cc class you still have to spend big bucks to modify them to be wide ,suspension to suit 7= year old kids thats before you look at the engine /drivetrain i have spent hours researching this before i purchased my first pro shark the only other quad on market was Can-am 90 So how about the manufactors putting some effort into kids quads
Who can tell me what quads comply to race in the limited class ????
How is it going to be policed when the old rules were not policed never seen a fuel test at state or national level nor engine checking only if there was a protest other fforms of motor sport have sealed motors or at least checked at mojor events
Fuel testing is frequently done in other forms of motor sport but in 4years of quad racing have only seen this once at club level _________________ THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE ASSISTED MY FAMILY IN THERE RACING OVER LAST FEW YEARS |

Cheque book racing will always exist. Always has and always will.
Getting around that is what twists a few knickers.
As far as the smaller kids is concerned, if one or two makes of bikes are always going to win, and there is not enough numbers/time to run a seperate class for the slower bikes, then running them together is going to have to happen.
Rewarding them as placed in their class shouldn't be either too hard or expensive. i.e. 2 lots of 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
It's suppossed to be fun for the kids and a social thing.
The sort of whining and bleating that has been going on here is getting pretty stale. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Help me out if I,m wrong guys but I was under the impression that controls put on a class not only made it more affordable for and not just he with the richest parents wins!!!! but also gives you good competition with raceing skills being the predominant decideing factor in race wins
And everyone that is spending a fortune trying to squeeze the last little drop of power out of the current rules maybe should rethink the ideals of fun and sport instead of juniors playing out parents dreams. If they have the skill .. let it cultivate.. not race for the sheep station of their parents dreams...
I dont mean to pee any one off... but some times ppl get a little crazy!!! _________________ Consistency..... The last refuge for the unimagenative. |

People forget that there just kids and the way you push them into it is the way they see it. My kids understand that we can't afford the best bikes but we can afford to have fun trying, i've seen spoilt little brats go out and brag they have the best bike and at the end of the day they still get smoked by someone who is a better rider and not a show pony. let kids do it for enjoyment and parents stop being trophy WHORES !!!.
Oh and i like the new rules

Our girls started on suzuki ltz 50s which they flipped I dont know how many times but now ride 50cc Pro Sharks and love it. And no we are not made of money, I actually sold my bike and some other items to pay for them.
We couldnt give a RATS whether they cross the line first or last.
All we care about is that they have fun and dont hurt themselves
They are actually old enough to race and to also move up a class but we are CHOOSING to keep them in the non - comp class for as long as possible _________________ If you're not having fun, it's not worth doing

Rule 22.3.0.3 is shown with a strikethrough which appears to be a typo or at least lost in translation to the final document.
The NQAC are in favour of ensuring this rule is maintained and MA are looking at the exact wording.
There are some overlaps with 22.4.1.4 and the final result will ideally not have any contradiction at all. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Apex Production 250cc ATVs Race at Buffalo Bills WORC Race
Apex 250 ATV Racers Take Podium at Round 2 of WORCS ATV Series in Primm, NV
Primm, NV (3/10/2011) - The number of racers on the Apex Race Ready Production 250 doubled from WORCS round 1 to WORCS round 2. In Round #1 TJ and Tyler Beckman were the only Apex 250 riders.
Despite a round one disaster when the Beckman Brothers took each other out on a 65 foot step up, two new WORCS riders
stepped up for round 2 in Primm Nevada and rode the Apex 250! All 4 of the young men on the Apex 250's earned a podium finish over the weekend.
Many ATV enthusiasts were impressed and loved the Apex 250. Currently the
Apex 250 has been selling well, despite the economy. Riders across the US,
Canada, South America and Australia have all purchased 250's.
Apex is now building a 450cc Production quad for release soon. Owner Greg
Beckman says "We race what we sell". Currently the Apex 50cc, 70cc, 85cc
Shifter, and 100cc are tearing it up at the race track!

I wouldn't buy one todd... I bought my kids new apexs and the new rules take both of them out because their 7 and 9... and their quads are modified .... tell me where that is fair? My kids ride for fun..
so if u buy one the rules will change to suit a american brand that are sh!tboxs anyway.

Hi Husky,
Your 9 year old will be fine, and i hope there are options for your 7 year old.
Most states run these Junior classes together anyway, so there is no real change at all on the ground, if anyone is just racing for fun.
Keep in mind that a 7 year old could not run a "modified" quad last year anyway.
Note above, there is an 85cc shifter APEX that is yet to come to this country.
Any Australian could buy one on line new or second hand from the States and race it tomorrow.
Our rules have to keep changing to meet new technology.
All MA disciplines must, and do change.
Incidentally this 85cc shifter APEX would also be able to run under last years rules too... but now... not for the youngest 90cc class, that's all.
Personally I like the new high tech models for our more experienced riders.
I just hope the larger Manufacturers can try and keep up
But this same progression is why it has been chosen that our youngest of 90cc juniors have been Limited to the 'speed limit' of the International Manufacturering standard of SVIA Y-10+ATV.
As soon as they turn 9 they can start racing those awesome 'race ready' or modified rockets and try clearing those 65 foot tabletops that Tods post mentioned. _________________ Can-Am X Team
