I was gonna see if i could round up atleast another 5 trikers to come along to http://www.mxcentral.com.au/index.php because i dare say we'd need a minimum of 6 and it will be $50ea (just like the quads)

Going by their calender we'd have to wait until atleast the 12th/13th March but thats cool, it will give everyone time to say theyre in then change their mind. laughing

Im keen and if i can get atleast 5 more i'll make the calls etc and organize it.

It might not be as cool as Stockton but its something a little differant and im keen to give it a go. Anyone else?

For sure have you already asked about trikes running mate?

I wanna send an email too the kurri kurri speedway track and see if we could set up some type of historic races. They would get a heap of new members/more money with us trikers coming aboard. Its so "profanity removed" as soon as you mention 3 wheelers they cringe. And with my punctuation skills it would make us worse off askin them lol ANYONE?

I've got all the forms etc for the Kurri motorcycle club, I went to that meeting out there at the pub that time. The one Ash posted about. I'll contact mxcentral and see if they're cool with 3 wheelers. From what i Remember Kurri didn't have an issue with the trikes. I'm heaps keen to get out on a flattrack with my trike cause I raced short circuit/ dirt/flattrack for years on a 2 wheeler and I could only imagine how much more fun it would be on 3 wheels.

If you guys want to get Trike racing going again...
I'd be keen to help where possible.

Obviously old attitudes and liability cover would be your biggest hurdles.
But there are many options these days, and there is basically nothing that can't be insured.

It would be awesome to see MX Pro-class trike racing ( just try not to make the quad lap times look to silly hey Smile )

You'll need some numbers and a lot of drive to make it happen, and always keep in mind that the attitudes will be hard to defeat and it may never get up.

One issue you may have is that trikes are not mentioned/covered in the MA rule book, therefore they do not exist to them. Speedway/flatrack is another story. We raced at many speedways over the years, they are glad for extra income. Also the trikes/quads do not chew track up like cars if flatrack type tyres are used.

I just got off the phone to the guy at MXCentral, he has no problem whotsoever with us trikers. He even said if we cant get the needed 6 trikes to run as a class, we can throw a couple quads amongst ourselves. Very Happy Very Happy Cool Cool Razz Wink Wink

Trikes are mentioned in the MA rule book on page 42.
1.1.0.21 'Motorcycle' means and includes: d) Trike - a 3-track vehicle with 3 wheels that is driven by its rear wheels.

All of the MOMS apply to Trikes as well... and always have.
Any other opinion on this is incorrect. read the book.

There are however, no GCR's for Trikes. Therefore Trikes can not be 'raced' as per the MA rule book, except for if a promoter wishes to apply for an "Alternative Forms Of Competition" as per section 27 (page 246) of the rule book.
The decision to support Trike racing is purely up to the Board of MA, and the question can be asked.
MA can choose to cover what ever form of racing they wish.

The best example of this might be their continued involvement in Safari, where Motorcycles (including quads) race with Cars on the same track at the same time.
Quite simply, the promoter must have asked MA, and MA must have said yes.

I would not waste MA's time (because it is hard to get) but if you guys are keen... get some numbers, build a proposal, and if you have the determination... ask the question.

Like i said before, it would be awesome to see the odd trike class pop up at an MX race even if it was just the occasional demo class (which might be the best place to start) Smile

Contact these guys, ASA Sidecar Spectacular Echo Valley, Toowoomba Tye Theis - 0409 249 666 www.toowoombamxclub.com.au

They are having this event on the May Day weekend, you might be able get a run as a demo class or something similar which as Bullet mentioned might be the best place to start. Quads have been invited to this event. Being a long weekend would make the travel easier and I'm sure the local quad guys could find you all some other riding spots as well while you're in Sunny Queensland.

As trikes were once IN the MA manual a few years back,is as simple as just getting them re-instated?? .................... I just re-read what i wrote, it must have been the medication i'm on.Sorry about that.
