With the CFS that pulled out last year I suppose thats the risk we take by getting an emergency service and then having wild and woolly weather in the weeks leading up to an event. Perhaps local sporting clubs would be an option especially in the country as they are always looking to raise money eg Renmark, ACUSA, Whyalla and Crystal Brook. As an idea, if a netball club was approached it could be a way for the DADS/PARTNERS of the players to have a day out to raise money to show their support without having to watch! |
a few years ago, mick from 47 organised the razorbacks gridiron club to do some flagging for us
i believe this was relatively successful for metro tracks, but a bit difficult at the country ones, |
Good idea. In rural areas, volunteer organisations such as SES, VRA and rural fire brigades are always looking to raise their profile, and funds in the local community. That also might worth looking into. |
ses and cfs/cfa are great organisations, however as stated earlier, as they are emergency services, they can be called away at very inconvenient moments |

approach a local footy + netball clubs or leauge sounds good
offer a hamburger and drink lunch for each plus a donation to their club for their services
i think in whyalla we have 9 or so jumps flaggie points x2 shifts b4 and after lunch thats a footy team 18 people im sure theyll be trying to fund raise 4 a end of season trip
making races flow smoother if outsiders are falgging for us
i know i took callen to 2 out of town 2 wheeled mxs only for then the event tobe turned into practice days cause so called riders didnt want to flag
cheers matt _________________ Raptor700Matt

Not that I am involved with club proceedings/events yet, but for what its worth I think getting local sports clubs involved if they are interested may possibly serve also to get more youth or oldies interested in the sport and increase club numbers. Anything to increase exposure to the sport should be good yeah???
I would rather pay for a flaggie.. _________________ Consistency..... The last refuge for the unimagenative. |

I have just approached a local primary school committee member who is going to put the idea to the committee. she was very interested as they are always looking for different ways to fund raise _________________ If you're not having fun, it's not worth doing
