My motor is a bit tired. 2008 model.
What should be changed? Just the piston and rings?
What opportunities for power ups?
All I do with this quad is Finke.
I am thinking of buying a spare motor so I can have a fresh one for the race.
Any thoughts?

If you're doing finke on it you probably don't want the 3rd gear letting go. We sell billet gears and they're much stronger and last much longer than stock gears. Majority of top australian suzuki riders used the gears in their quads last year as well as a few pro's and pro-am riders in the states. PM me if you're interested.

how many hours has it done, you may want to get the cylinder re-coated if it worn too.

That's a good idea.
Found some big bore bolt on kits on the net
493cc
Has anyone done this. Looks good to me. They supply a new cylinder. All bolt on.
