Actually - 4 x Hella Rallye 4000 compacts off ebay australia for $800 incl postage and 2 HID kits from China $200 incl freight. Converted by me. Total of $1000.
PS: Where I ride 4 lights are not overkill, I like to see what I don't want to hit when your travelling at 100kph, especially the Skippy type. Oh, and the stock headlights are also HID, $85 from China. |
Where are the night shots let us judge the "over kill".(stick a ute in front at 50m.)
I've seen the 52" light bars on the RZR's and the like thay look neat and it's protected within the roll cage at least but for that sort of money $3,250.oo there are lots of alternatives. Ay gothev8 you could have 12 Hella's & BBQ roo at every turn for that sort of doe .
JRE are the LEDs replaceable and if so what is the cost of that. Also do they have 1/2/life time warranty _________________ If its got wheels I'll drive it!

| LEDs have a 50000hr life compared to 2000hr for HID 250hr for halogen. Its true they are expensive and you can whack 12 lightforce or hellas on for the same money but do you have the power to run them?? I am by no means bagging the RZR setup it is definately horses for courses if you rolled the RZR the lights are rooted but a Light bar may be better protected within the cage I was only interested in these lights due to the restricted output of our stators and space. they wont suit all applications. |

I will do some photos for you next time I go for a ride. The thing is in a million pieces at the moment as I am preparing it for this year's Cape York trip. I am not restricted as much with power either as I have a full sized Odyssey battery in my rig. I have been considering buying a couple of Hella LED lights for the bumper as they are floods and measure 1 lux at 100m. The rallye 4000 are all pencil beams which I opted for as I also use the rzr for hunting. _________________ 2012 Polaris RZR XP Turbo

the 10's setup
not real practical for the fact that if i fall off there both smashed to hell as they stick up way past the bars, but in the 3 yrs since the 10 was created there still alive and going strong.
there about 6 inch in diamater, just 2 cheap metal lights i got of ebay and then i retrofitted them with some 50 watt H1 hid's.
more distance light then the LED lights but on racing atv's the led's are so much more practcal, and a lot better looking then the big bug eye look

I looked on ebay usa and they are $119 us plus about $20us postage and insurance so they'll cost around $160 au so these are a really good deal. not often you can buy USA product cheaper in Oz |
What became of this?
I'd be keen for 3 or 4. Reckon they would be great on the airseeder.

There would be awesome on any ag/earthmoving equipment, reverse lights, camping lights, also have 3.5hr rechargable batterypacks for around $190 so they can be portable lights. Mountain bike, shooting bushwalking etc.
pm me if your keen and I can get us a good deal |

So I finally got to go for a night ride and turn my high beams on
We go riding every weekend but the girls had other plans this week so that's when I go on my night rides I do a full loop around my town Ayr following the cane rail lines & using a maze of cane paddocks the only road I ride down is the one I live on but I have to cross a heap of them to get around the town
The Lights cost me $55.oo Each You can probably get them cheaper? I just went to the auto Lek & didn't care what I payed for them.
I don't trust LEDs I often see one or to or more of them not working in the brake light bares in the wings of cars and tail lights of trucks. the manufacturers can say that they last 55,000 hrs because the light has 20 LEDs and so if one or two fails that don't count it still works.
LEDs look bright and are a grate idea but when it comes throwing the light out there give me a good old globe any day I'll carry a screwdriver and a couple of spare globes just in case
low
high
flood
And here are some good reasons for any lights
sorry bout the blur. I'll post a video of a night ride one day _________________ If its got wheels I'll drive it!

I just put a new set of LED lights on my Suzuki.
Makes a big difference.
I could see the LED's shining on my shed from 40 meters in the middle of the day.
I'll do a couple of night shots if I can stay awake that long.
Pic one is a comparison of the LED Light and the Halogen globe

| JRE wrote: | | what brand were they?? | As a matter of course all motorbikes and quad bikes have poor peripheral vision and I've tried different combinations on different quads.
Pencil beam lights are OK if you want to see a few hundred meters down the beach or along a straight road but still have the problem of poor side/peripheral coverage.
My present bike is a current model King Quad which has got good if not better standard lights than most quads but still has the side vision problem.
The set I had on my quad were 55 watt spread beam lights which gave good peripheral vision and the forward vision was a little better than the quads lights on high beam. Overall, quite satisfactory for a cheap set.
I turned the new LED lights on at dark last night and they are much, much brighter than the 55 watt halogens and infact completely nullify the quads own head lights. They would also have a much greater forward range. I live in a suburban street so I couldn't do much testing but I'm sure they'll be extremely effective out in the bush and dunes.
My night riding is almost entirely based around tracks and back dunes so I reckon they'll be ideal for my application.
Some people may want to see longer distances at night and these lights will not match strong halogen pencil beams as a matter of course but I suppose it's each to their own.
Whether people are prepared to pay the price for them is also a matter of preference.

I've added a couple of pics from my yard in the pitch black.
The pic's are with no flash so they're not real good quality.
Pic one...Pitch black -
Pic two...Only light is from the LED's. The house across the street is 80 meters away.
Again, it is not a real good test in a suburban street, but the pics show they work pretty well. Certainly a lot better than 55 watt spread beam halogen globes. _________________ 2010 Sukuki

I should have said that the LED's completely nullified the bikes own lights so I stand corrected. They will be good on the tracks in any event. _________________ 2010 Sukuki
