Well, that has now all been run and won, a little bit of a run down on how it went for ALL those Quad riders who did not turn up.
Unfortunately the QRSA ran a ride day on the same weekend as an event open to Quads, which took a few of our entries, and while only being a few entries never the less it puts a question wether they open it up to Quads again?
I hope that next time it is run, that the clubs look at the events for riders and try to work with them so riders and Clubs both benifit from these events.
Any how, as I am mainly a two wheeled rider and not a 4, I am slowly beginning to find a taste for Quads!
Our little 200 Blaster was once again entered this year with multiple riders to increase the Quad class from 2 to 5 and was initially going to run as it did last year.
Minor motor changes like a pipe, V force, 28mm carb and timing plate mods but then a little evil man by the name of 1Sick6 got in my ear over the past few weeks and began to suggest thing that may help in a quicker time up the hill.
Now I have only met this bloke once before, 12 months ago at the same meeting and I thought then that this bloke had some serious issues by the way his bikes were turned out and they looked trick!
He sent me emails on lowering kits, wheels, tyres, spacer kits, etc. and things began to turn bad! (I began to listen!)
So with pictures of lowering blocks in hand, I headed to the shed or "Man Cave" as my missus calls it, and the creation began!
A day later and the Blaster was sitting 4 inches lower on the front and 3-4 inces on the back.
1Sick6 had gone through his shed and found more which he decided I needed and was bringing them down on Sunday to do a quick change over on Sunday morning of the event.
So on Sat night 1Sick6, his cousin and Red wookie turned up at the track for a bit of a social gathering around the camp fire and suggested that we load the quad on my trailer and they would take it back to his cousins place and operate!
So I watched as my beloved 200 Blaster and my trailer drive off into the dark.
Sunday Morning came and riders brief was starting and no sign of 1Sick6, his pit crew or the little Blaster. So a quick phone call reavealed they were running bit late but would be there shortly as the first run up the hill was about to start.
5 miutes later, they arived with 3 quads on board and 2 tow vehicles
and there was the little Blaster now sitting lower and wider again!
Banshee axle, wheel spacers and 18 inch tyres on rims! SWEET!
This all accumulated to 3 seconds off last years time up the hill!
A massive thanks to 1Sick6, his cousin and the Red Wookie these blokes are top lads and and that sort of help and genourisity is only something that is seen among a few.
As far as 1Sick6 and his performance, well lets just say he showed two wheelers how to get up bitumen hils FAST!
He made the top 10 shoot out on BOTH Banshees and finishe 7 outright for the day! 35.92 second!
Ha, ha and the little Blaster 24th outright and 40.85 seconds. still in front of bigger bikes!

yeah it's a shame that there weren't more quads to take part in the hillclimb. i hope the atujara club can be sympathetic to the fact that there were two fundraiser events organised to help out a family who is having to endure the effects of the most incidious condition imaginable, and cater for quads again next year. nathan has actually acquired leathers to take part in this event, and although he himself took ill over the weekend and couldnt do anything motorcycle related, he'd meant to be at acusa cooking sausages for one of the fundraisers
similarly, i'm pretty sure brenton potts would have hillclimbed if he wasnt fundraising.
there's all the makings of a few more quads taking part next year, event clashes permitting. |
