I have one of each in my shed until next week.
Going to take them out soon and compare.

PRE-RIDE COMPARISON:

The new one has a massive air filter and box, with a much improved breather. Also has cool retro fins on the outside under edge of seat around the airbox.

The new carby has a "real" choke button now (not a silly lever) and its easier to find while seated. The thumb throttle is quite a bit heavier with the new carby, i might look into some softer springs for it.

Supposedly lower ride height but i cant tell because my 05 was pretty low with the Aft-mkt suspension. I'll comment on this after we put the 05 back to stock.

Cant notice a weight difference lifting it around in the shed. Battery box looks well sealed and is mounted under the left rear guard. Button starts easily, its a shame they didn't make the kicker/button interchangeable (like the YFZ) or leave the kicker on as backup to the battery. (If you prefer the kickstart, only option is to do the beef-up mods to an 04 or 05. Cannot convert the 06! )

05 ACCESSORY FITMENT:

Lone Star A-arms fit fine, (i cant comment on other brands). Axles fit fine

Nerf bars from an 05 will not fit. Some companies such as Blingstar are creating a spacer to allow 05 nerfs to fit an 06 machine rather than change their design or create 2 models.

Full exhaust systems from an 05 will not fit. Engine angle has been tweaked, so either get a slip-on muffler, or wait for an 06 full-system to become available.

Rear suspension will need to be tweaked because of the longer swing-arm. Fronts are fine.

POST-RIDE COMPARRISON:
TBA (i'll let you know)

Has anyone else updated?

Depends where the nerfs come from. Extreme Fabrication Pro Pegs fit '05 and '06 just fine.

Ah well there you go (thanx John).
Sorry Kevin, i can only speak on the Blingstar nerfs (i believe the spacer goes on the peg, but i havent seen it yet). I assumed most nerfs would have fitment issues. (my bad)

POST-RIDE COMPARISON

Holy sh!t that thing hauls!
I had originally planned to compare stock to stock, but really - who rides anything stock? So we put all the good bits over onto the 06 and took it out to Bacchus. The only thing it was missing is the full exhaust which i am still waiting on, so it still had the stock can on it today.

1st gear is a lot more sensible, and subsequently 2nd is also a little lower and more useable.

It has incredible pull. I hit a little ski jump at almost half my normal speed (i was taking it slow!) bliped the throttle on the lip and just about ripped my arms out of their sockets! Very immediate response like the YFZ, it didn't bog at any time, just hauled straight out of corners without clutch work.

Still running it in of course, but i think this thing is a real goer.
It doesn't feel like any Honda i've ever ridden. Certainly not the familiar gentle red tractor the other TRX's are. This engine is supposedly much closer to the CRF-X & R, it is definately a mx beast.
