I need some advice on 250cc class quads. Any feedback would help. This will be my first quad and my wife doesn't want me investing a heap of cash in something i will only use half a dozen times a year for getting around the various country properties we have access to.
Last year i was "allowed" to buy a brand new WR450F, so i don't want to go pushing my luck with an expensive quad... hence my budget really is the 250cc class (around $4k).
If it proves a winner with the family, i am sure i will be able to upgrade.
So, that's the background to the story... my question is, is 250cc enough? am i wasting my money? ie are they a joke? I am 90kg. I want to tow a small trailer for mulching trees and stuff.
Is 2 wheel drive sufficient in the wet? and on mud? with appropriate tyres will it go where a 4WD will go (within reason of course).
Which one do you ride or would you go for?
yamaha big bear?
suzuki ozark?
Honda TRX250? _________________ Go hard or go home |

Hey, alot of questins there but ill do my best ha ha.
Well i own a suzuki LT250R and the thing flys for a 2 banger, im 70 kg and it will pick the front wheels up no pron 1 and 2nd gear and it would in 3rd also if u had good tyres on back, and 2 strokes are verry forgiving to get sideways, so yes they go hard.
I dont know about a 2stroke on mud cos of the power band, being the power is either full on or lagy, nothing in between. But u will have the best fun of ur life if u like getting sideways in the wet n mud ha ha but if u want a bike for safety in the wet id say stay away from 2stroke.
It is hard to say if they will go the same places, cos they are soooo totaly diferant, but id say they will go most places but if u are carying a pasenger and are going up hills u will be riding the clutch alot and 2 strokes need to be ridern fast and dont go so well putting around. But if u are going over wet rocks n stuff forget it u need a 4x4 with inderpandant rear end.

I would look at the KLF300 its is a 2x4 with a diff lock,it will go almost anywhere (with the right tyres in the mud), has a tow bar, racks and are very tuff and reliable quad. _________________ hustleratv.com.au 0407 797 780

I'll vouch for that too. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"
