Is it possible to fit an 07 gear box to 08/09/010 ltr`s
know the gears are different, what about shafts etc.
The short being , looking at putting an 07 box in later model ltr.
Never had a problem with 07 box, i believe they are a better gears just to look at.
Opinions please.

pretty much everything is different, every gear, shafts, shift mechanism, shift forks, shift drum.
Might as well just buy some billet gears and have your problems disappear.

Haven't heard a bad thing said about the billet gears, witnessed for myself the first set i've seen that showed slight signs of wear the other day, that was only after 60 hours of use in a pro motocross motor making hp in the high 50's. Standard gears would have lasted less than 5 hours in this case.

That`s good to hear, we were suprised to see 2 bikes one standard 08 lightly riden and raced go 90 hrs then destruct 3rd, but new it would happen at some stage but beat us to it[ fixing it first] then the 2nd 08 with billet gears raced hard all it`s life for a bit over 90 hrs do the same [this bike standard lasted 5 hrs and failed, so was virtualy new].
To look at the way they failed is identical. Had an 07 that had done a lot hard of work, pulled it down for preventitive maintenance and it was in real good order [92 hrs] The billet gears were one of the first though ,so maybe later ones improved.

Do you know when the gears were purchased? because we did change the way they were made at one point which almost doubled the life span of the gears.

It was my quad that chewed up the billet 3rd gear

I am led to believe they were purchased early 2008...and they were the 1st generation of billet gears. The new one in it now supposedly has a longer life span...lets hope so!

Not ragging the billet gears in any way as we know they are better than standard, just thought the longevity of the 07 box was pretty good.
Billet gears talking about were put in in 4/6/08

What part of the gearbox did he wreck exactly?

the dog gears get worn which makes it jump out of gear, a lot of people don't really recognize this as being a bad thing, this eventually allows the shift fork to break which allows 2 gears to be selected, really messing shiit up
