He is fine, only suffered a broken wrist, spent the night in the hospital. He said his map roller had crapped itself and was following you in your dust when you turned and he didnt.

Start saving now then Feral, even running support is expensive, but well worth the experience.

Don't scare the guy off Mick. It ain't that expensive to run support. Everyone does it different so it just depends on what arrangements you make with whoever it is you are going with.
Best case scenario: You are the best mechanic in the world and a top team want you to head up a crew of 10 mechanics looking after 5 bikes. You get paid $20,000 and are flown in 1st class, stay in the best hotels with unlimited room service. (Warning! This rarely happens and probably never in Australia)
Worst case scenario: You pay entry for everyone including the racer. You pay for fuel for the race machine and support vehicles. You pay for every one elses catering and you must donate 2 spare quads for parts. You drive the race trailer there and back on your own. When you get a chance to do so, you sleep on the ground. (Warning! this rarely happens as well)
The reality is some where in between.
A few things that are a fact:
You will get tired. 
You will be tested. 
You will will have the time of your life. 
You will never forget the experience.
