| Hi all, like most Stockton beach regulars I was glad to see the Lavis Lane access now open again and especially for ATV riders. Yes the track on to the sand is now virtually a highway and job well done. However as a long term 30yrs at Stockton ATV rider I am concerned that now all the Lavis Lane 4WD traffic is fed directly into the sanctioned ATV area. The current (small)ATV area is already comprimised by sand mining at Coxxs lane, the new housing estate backing onto it, numerous ATV rental groups and now with all Lavis lane 4WD access.Do any other private ATV users out there have any of the same or new concerns regarding this subject? If so,let's hear them and I would also urge you to call the NPWS at Port Stephens and voice your comments as I already have. |

| me and my dad was talking about this earlier today...Its screwed cause with all the 4wds heading straight into our desinated area its chewed up within 100-200 metres each way Its hard to find a smooth area to ride around in, all the 4wds heading straight to the sygna shipwreck area we are having to watch out more carefully to avoid running into them..We will probable going to have to start putting high flags/whips on our trikes/quads so they can see us coming. |

| Yeah on a similar note I noticed a nasty hazard while riding on the dunes for the first time after the closure. If you're following the track parallel to the water over the small dunes closest to the beach, there is a large ditch on the top of one of the dunes not far from the shipwreck that you can't see until you're on top of it. We almost rode right into it, and during our ride we saw an unlucky 4WD nose dive into it and had to be snatch strapped out. |

this will always be an issue having the 4x4's in the ATV section, as its not ATV's only. But i do find it funny personally that most of the quads can get up the really high dunes yet i've seen a massive amount of 4b's bogged to there diff's 10feet up the dune face, and they only seem to use the beach front of the ATV area to anna bay. Curious as to who else we can write to, to find out why, or if anyone can explain in a nice way. _________________ ltr450 with un-broken stuff

The ATV area is 18 odd km south of Anna Bay.
Whats the question? _________________ Waza |

Rode the dunes this weekend and it was a mess. There was no where that was smooth due to the 4wd tracks every where. This has never been that bad. The track in is great but has wrecked the main area for quad riders to ride! I dont know the solution but there has to be one. _________________ YFZ450

[/quote] Thanks to those that have replied so far but apart from two replies the rest don't rate a mention. Come on guy's you can't all be that stupid, it's not about 4WD's racing quads up sand hills or even someones cat hanging from a tree! Honestly this is a serious issue effecting the use of your ATV on the only coastal stretch on the eastern seaboard of Australia. Don't kid yourself that you can turn your back on it and ride some other beach as this tiny 4km pig pen that has been set aside for nuisance quad riders is all you got! Get off your rear end and complain to NPWS as this comes under their plan of management.

If you want to do something about it, post a letter format up here and any other quad sites that some one only needs to copy paste into Word print out and sign and date it.
Also include postage details (where they need to send it, and who they need to address it to)
By posting a standard letter format you stop people from writting with to much emotion, rambling or just plain inappropriate language which is a bigger danger when asking people to contact agencies direct.
Just an Idea, if you are serious about getting people involved, you need to make it easy for them and to help guide them to correctly get your point across. |

THIS IS A REPLY I RECEIVED AFTER MAKING SOME ENQUIRIES REGARDING THE NEW ACCESS TO THE RVA AT STOCKTON.
I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY CANCE OF HAVING AN AREA THAT DIDN'T INCLUDE 4WD'S FOR SAFETY REASONS.
WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND MAKE A SUBMISSION
Thank you for your feedback on the recent upgrade of the Lavis Lane access.
The upgrade was necessary for a number of reasons, chief among them being to ensure that visitors to the Worimi Conservation Lands access directly onto the park. The previous 4WD access was resulting in visitors crossing private land. Further work on the upgraded access will be completed over coming weeks and should go some way to further improving 4WD and ATV access.
NPWS is starting work on a plan of management for the Worimi Conservation Lands. This will involve consultation with the public and groups who have an interest in the WCL.
Your enquiry regarding an ATV only area will be considered together with all feedback received during the consultation for the plan of management. Work on the plan will take some time. Once a draft plan has been completed it will be placed on public exhibition for 90 days, during which time anyone may make a submission. NPWS and the WCL Board of Management will consider the submissions received, and may recommend changes. A final plan is then adopted by the Minister responsible for the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act.
The annual Stockton beach clean up day is being held on Sunday 31st October (see attachment). This great community day will also be an opportunity for participants to find out more about the plan of management and let us know what they think about the WCL.
The plan of management display will also be set up at near the Lavis Lane carpark on the afternoon of Saturday 30th October. This will be another opportunity for park visitors, including ATV riders to find out about the planning process and have some input. |

NO IT WON'T BUT NOW IS A CHANCE TO TRY AND HAVE SOME SAY
I have listed below the information as sent to myself and the upcoming meeting between interested parties regarding Stockton.
I have booked myself into this workshop and was hoping to have some other concerned people attend with me. If you can not attend but would like me to put something to them personally please email me on ausrod1934@bigpond.com.
Now is your chance if you ride at Stockton to have a say.
Plan of Management
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is starting work on preparing a Plan of Management for the Worimi Conservation Lands. The Plan will outline how the Park will be managed in the future.
Consultation with the community, Park users and other stakeholders has commenced. An important part of this work is to identify the values of the Worimi Conservation Lands, and issues for consideration when preparing the Plan.
* A public workshop to identify the values and management issues will be held on Sunday 7th November at the Anna Bay Public School Hall, 191 Gan Gan Road.
* To attend please RSVP by Monday 1st November by calling 49848204. This will assist with arrangements to help ensure everyone gets the most out of the workshop.
* For more information click here.
Do you have something to contribute to the Plan of Management?
* Why are the Worimi Conservation Lands important to you?
* What issues do you think need to be considered in the Plan of Management?
You can respond by listing your answers to these questions, and/or any other comments in the form available here, and be sure to click the ‘submit’ button so that we receive your comments. |

Heard the saying "SNOOZE YOU LOOSE"
well that’s what will happen if you don’t attend and have a say at the open day on 30/10/2010 at Lavis Lane to talk to National Parks about the Rec Rego area and ATV riding on the dunes.
Our forum is full of complaints and whingers - now its time to get off our butts and have a say at the meeting organised especially for us to do just that.
National Parks are holding a day especially for ATV riders who ride the beach at Stockton to come along and raise issues with the people who manage the park.
Don’t let the opportunity slip by and if you do don’t whinge
There is a public meeting on the 7/11/2010 at Anna Bay also. _________________ niftynev |

The information sheet that I have says it will be from 9.15am until 3.30pm.
When I rang and booked in they wanted numbers for catering purposes so they may be supplying morning tea or something. |

The official afternoon for RVA users ATV riders to meet with national parks and discuss issues etc was today 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Very poor attendance. The 7/11/2010 is a public meeting for all users _________________ niftynev |
