im not selling it straight away, ive got 12 mths b4 i will be wanting to upgrade, but as i have said b4 if the right money is offered anything is for sale, i dont wish to be paying one off , so i will just keep working and putting the money aside.
now im just deciding on what to get ,
so now im finding out from people that have either one of these, which is the best for trailriding and hill climbs etc. |

| have had my 700 Raptor for just on 12 months now and have loved every minute on it. Mainly dune riding and trails, have climbed plenty of big dunes on it not too many rocky hill climbs though, sure it is more than capable though. If you want 4x4 as well try the canam renegade those things are unreal and unbeleivably quick and suppose to handle like a sports bike.but if you are Yamaha loyal you wont be dissapointed in 700 raptor |

Hi shan660
It totally depends on what type of riding you want to do, If you want speed and motocross type riding go the Raptor,
If you want more technical type riding go the Grizzly. I have had a Raptor 700 (amongst other bikes) before i got my Grizzly, my riding style i had to adjust, can't corner as quick on a Grizzly, engines are the same, so if you want to spend some money you can get them moving. They're not as quick as a standard Raptor though.
Weight is a big difference too with the Grizzly 700 being around 300kgs wet (with fuel)

A grizzly will GO every where a raptor can. A raptor CANNOT go every where a grizzly can go. _________________ 2005 KFX700

yep it seems speed is the issue, but i think im a bit over it , i think you would have to spend a hell of a lot of money on a 700 anyway to get anywhere near what im used to on the 660, which i will miss, but if you spend the money on a 700 that has been spent on my 660 , nothing would catch you. but i do have to update, its not a case of having the fastest or best qaud, i think the only way i can decide this for myself is take grizzly for a spin, that way if i like it ill go for that one, if i dont ill just go for the 700. probably the difference in dollars will help me decide. thanks guys for your input youve helped heaps

Once you try the power steering that will sell you on the grizzly, , but then the weight of it might change your mind again _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

| why not buy a 450 shannon and get the speed thing out of your system once and for all i think you would realy enjoy a 450 and the world of cheap mods out there for them.( well some are ) you realy like your 660 but that 660 will never be as good at a well hung 450... 450 is a fast smart quad faster off the mark than 700 and built to jump good on the trails and you can take it racing if and when you decide too you could pick up a new fuel injected one for a good price im sure much smarter move for you haviing said that ... those grizz's sure are impressive !!!! |

sorry dazz its not me that wants to be quicker than everyone else, i already had my bike , that had the mods done, um why did you buy a 700 for, maybe and why are you always trying to make your bike faster, and better, hang on that other post are you talking about yourself.
the reason i am upgrading is having a ex race bike, the bike needs a bit more maintenance engine wise. and while its good to be fast , it also cost a lot to maintain, so in 12mths it will probably have to get done again, so im over spending money on it, and feel the money i m using to maintain my bike, i could put a side to buy a new 700 raptor , or grizz, depending on my preference.. |

i own both, an 06 50th anniversary yamaha raptor 700, and 07 grizzly 700. Two totally different quads for different applications. The raptor is definately the fun factor, without question. I did the cape york ride in 08 on the raptor and it was the right choice. The grizzly is a lot bigger and heavier and uses much, much more fuel, and is probably 25km/h slower. The grizzly is in it's element on my property chasing livestock, or carrying fence posts, the raptor struggles in this area 'cause it aint got a rack, but seriously, two different quads for two different duties.

| Maybe go for a test ride on a canam 800. Depending on costs the X is super quick excellent factory suspension and the only way you get bogged is when the mud passes the handle bars. i have owned a grizzly then went to buy a brute force but test rode renegade and never looked back.... |

Husky Goat you must have some canam detector on your computer i knew that post would fire you up lol. yes true if you hit a tree u would bend the frame but thats better than ripping the whole side off the grizz i suppose. |

Get a hold of Rossco on here, he'll tell you what the Can-am's (Outlanders )are worth, The costs of parts and the delay in getting such.
How they compare to the Grizz (apart from heavier and longer).
Can-am folk don't get get pissed at me yet, i like the way it rode, and the straight line speed is impressive, but i personally think the Grizzly is a better all rounder.

| For those that have owned 450s and 700s, what are your thoughts on maintainance and reliability. IE will the bigger (lazier?) 700 break less than the more highly strung 450? |
