Mart, I don't know if things have improved but my partner and I had a 8 tonne excavatore in Sydney about 6 years ago. It was fitted with a state of art, back to base system that could do everything except make decent coffee.
We got the call @ 3:10am to say it's activated. We sent our man in, a rather large, smart and capable man that rode Harleys. His phone call @ 3:41am confirmed the worse, no digger!
Numerous things happenned after that. They involved the cops ( a bit too busy for our problems,,,), the security mob that sold, and serviced the whole system as well as us owners and a "few other people with 2 wheeled transport". Rick had good connections........
At 5:15 am the moving signal was tracked to a old truck parking area near Mt White, half way to your place.......
The only thing there was the transponder in a lonely garbage bin! eek
Despite being fitted with both high grade epoxy and stainless bolts with the heads rounded off, the transponder had been removed from a very secure location. The security firm said something about a bug scanner/jammer. The cops said too bad, so sad.
Apparently the bad guys are high tech with intimate knowledge...... Evil or Very Mad
Insurance paid ONLY because we had the system fitted.
Without casting aspertions over various people, I'd suggest that the hype is better than reality.
The organised bad guys are very organised. A 8 tonne machine vanished in urban Sydney. A 300 kg quad or trike would be just as simple.
Apparently man-traps are illegal, but people obtaining info thru facebook and the phone company is not.........
