how have you got the tach set-up. mine was really accurate, i think i had it soldered to the orange wire going to the coil. |

lol i'd chalk the speedo up as not working either and chuck the whole thing...
get your self one of these like I have on mine:
http://www.kartbay.com.au/p/845893/digital-engine-tachometer.html
and then use this calculator to work our your speed:
http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm
of course that calculator only works if you have the stock primary drive gears, if you have straight cuts from the crank to the clutch they might be a different ratio, although there is a calculator floating around somewhere for that too.
I strapped a gps to my bars once but it didnt have a record function and I couldnt take my eyes off the (dirt) road long enough to read the speed.
I have seen 10500rpm with 16/41 gearing and 20 inch tyres though, which works out to be 98mph or 157km/h. You could probably add a few km/h because the tyres grow at high speed.
That was with a heavily ported 400cc powervalve motor though, and a VERY long bitumen road! (im not exactly aerodynamic or light though lol) _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

| interesting calculator. i should be able to see 138KPH if my motor will pull to 10000rpm. i dont think i would see that tho, makes me want to buy a tach now. and thats not factoring in the rz tranny. |

i would love to see how fast i could actually get a quad to run at the lake. but they arnt intrested in making a new class for quads. the bike guys say its not a bike coz it has 4 wheels and the cars guys say its not a car. no 1 wants to take it on.
this is another thing i have been asking about for the last 3 years along with quad drags on ANDRA tracks. I always get the same awnser... NO _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

Got a new front hub - now fitted
Got HD tie rods ( thanks mad06kfx) - now fitted
Got a gps - cable tied to the bike
When back out on the road and guess what ..........
142.8 Km/h on the gps the trail tech did not pass the previously set 156.1
Then the cops showed up. A neighbor up the road told them we always ride on the road and since my bike is so loud he heard it and called them. We gave them the line about this guy wanting to buy it and was only putting down the road ............
They let us off with a warning after the senior cop nearly flipping the kfx
Will get a video when we ride this weekend at the farm.
So thanks for all the doubting experts! |

Gotta give him 143kmh Dangerman
Yeah that is impressive.
Lots of other people might tell you they can go faster than that, but feel free to doubt most of them too.
I guess you can lend them a GPS now.
You shoulda told the Cop you were trying to prove all these blokes on OZatv forum that you could do 156
Like DM said though, you'd be surprised how much more hp that would take.

| We followed my brothers lt-r in the car, it got up to 150km/h and my one this year got to around 146km/h. Pretty sure this would be fairly accurate but i'm still keen to check it out with gps. |

Hows this for a top speed story, my dog can nearly run as quick as my Kwaka 300. Take her for a run everynight and unless I'm flat in 5th she runs right past me. Bike does between 65 and 70 so she must be upwards of 60km/h sprinting.
Now that is a fast bike when a dog is as quick. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"
