with massive rear tyres, a big ass hill and with a 50 knt tail wind its possible.

if your on flat ground your calibrations are out.
if you think your still correct please please a video.

Yogies would maybe get 125, but certainly no where near 150+
they just dont rev that hard, and you cant change the gearing as such,
so unless u had 24 inch rear tyres, and 120hp i call BS

What have you got done to your Raptor to to 140-150km/h. My 450 only did about 125, 1 tooth up on the front with the rest standard.

a raptor or a kfx will never pull past 130 kph . (FULLSTOP)

This is on my Finke Banshee, its actually 10kms out coz i set the speedo up for my 21inch tyres and did this run with my smaller mx tyres, but it does 165km/h.

i hate to break it to you all but those speedos would be a fair way out.

everyone i have shown what there actual speed is with a GPS has been rather shocked and blamed the GPS for being incorrect.

i don't know what mods any of you have but for a production based ATV to do upwards of 140kph is very rare.

use a vapor for an idea of distance travelled, hours temp etc etc. ask any desert racer or safari rider how they make allowences for wheel based speedos. i have done alot of work on this when testing for finke to get the most out our bikes over the years. that includes, tyre sizes, aerodymanmics, gearing and engine work.

i remember one atv owner on a 700 raptor said this would do 160 easy. GPS said 120kph max. he said my GPS is broken. i said the only thing that is broken is your ego LOL.

I've had mine reading 195 on a 400 EX but that was when I got it wet and it went berzerk.

The biggest let down with a quad or UTV is the faster you go the more elongated your tyre gets, which I'm thinking should make the reading slower, but yes verify this with a GPS and you will be shocked at how wrong your speedo is.

You boys may be right will try with a gps and video camera if I can find a new front hub as I broke one. So anyone got a front hub or know if like lonestar kfx 450 front hubs will fit.

Have not had much to do with the trailtech and have set it up according to the manual.

Will try again in a few weeks.

If your KFX and raptor are capable or 160 then let me know.
i will film u doing it, as i pass u on the back wheels...

tyres do grow a bit as mentioned but not really a issue at 120 kph.

The boys are right for sure.
Those speeds are way too high.

The Vapor units are calibrated to whatever number the owner types in there.
You can get this pretty accurate by measuring distance travelled.
You need a fixed distance of something quite long like 5km would be best.
Measure it with another good source or the average of what a few standard cars agree on maybe.
Then from a zero re-set, cover that distance at speed (to help eliminate tyre growth distortion) and see if the odo clicks 5km at your tested mark.

If not, adjust the input number (tyre circumfrence in mm) for your machine until you get the odo right.

I'm thinking the speedo should be pretty darn close if you've used an honest distance and hit it at speed.

hope that helps

also I beleive the faster the bike goes, the tyre shape changes and there for gives an inacurate reading, correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh hold on JB here. He'll tell me I'm wrong... Laughing Laughing Laughing

I set my Vapor up as per the instructions and have verified the speed via road bike, GPS, and another quad to be accurate within a couple of klms. For the record, my top speed so far is 128.7 on gravel road. Probably had a little more but not much. Even at that speed it felt like I was going to be blown off the bike.
I would have thought that it would be the rear tyres that would distort the most as they are being rotated by the motor to drive the quad. The front tyres are just along for the ride and surely wouldn't increase their circumference by that much.

Alright assuming my trail tech is liying to me kfx 700 840 kit, muzzy exhaust, white bros cdi?, Dalton Pro tuner kit and billet clutch. What should my top speed be that reading was on the road?

If the front tyres grew then it would show a slower number. If the rear tyres grew it would effectively make it go faster top speed. Correct?
