Elka stage 4 elite , dialed in beat Fox floats in my opinion.

I hated the fox floats , didnt seem to get the cushin of air that the elka stage 4 's gave me at high speed ... just an opinion though...

I personally dont like the fox float... they say its easier to adjust with the air presure. I use axis shocks(Got them cheap) but preffer the elkas hands down.

A good friend of mine use to have the elkas before his bike got stolen and i loved the set up, He is now running some fox floats. He says they are better but i dont like the feel of them at med to high speed and he can not convince me otherwise.

Fox all the way but I didn't mind the elkas when imran them but they are such old technology now compared the fox. Smithy always sweard by fox and now I know he isn't full of it, sure the fox take a little extra understanding of how a shock works but that's a great thing for any rider, to learn what does what. Everyone I know or heard of that doesn't like fox, is because they are not taking the time to understand . When I have questioned all of them about why they didn't like them, they couldn't even tell me how the differant pressure systems worked in each chamber. Read the book and ask questions and your lap times or your back will love you for it.

Proberbly the other noticeable things about fox versus elka is maintenance, fox need far less rebuilding than elka,s, I know this because I have raced both brand s for 2 seasons each and I have had far less issues with fox.

Pros fox versus elk
Fox is cheaper
Fox requires less maintenance
Fox are lighter
Fox is available through numerous ATV distributors
Fox is run by a lot of Australian pros who know how they work
Fox support Australian numerous Australian riders

Cons for fox
A little more knowledge on suspension required, for me that would be a pro because that forces you to learn how to setup you bike better, which means you get a better handling bike. Pm me if you would like some more info

No experience with Elka.
Went from standard shocks on LTR to Evols.
Magic in whoops.
I preferred the standard shock when going full speed.
Overall was so much faster this year at Finke that I guess they're good.
And I do like the adjustments, I find them easy to adjust and understand.
I guess because Rob explained this stuff to me Smile

elka stage 4's are the go, i'm very pleased with them. On the other hand though i have never had fox floats. From the research i was doing at the time before purchasing new shocks as they are quite pricey was all all pointing towards elka's.

Len still seems to think that pep are the only ones that build shocks to your style, weight. You can get this done with fox and Elka. Difference is for fox this is done in Australia not in the USA. As Hardiman ATV have all spares, shims, springs, bodys, all adjusters and every part to build fox is in stock and is only a couple of days away in the post if needed. Couldnt say the same for elka shocks anymore.Nice hijack len. Obviously you didn't get the message that he only is asking about fox versus Elka

Nice one again

First time I've ridden Fox Shox today and Flat landed a big double, came up unscathed. Hammered whoops faster then I ever have and couldn't be happier with the product. They just seem to soak everything I threw at them up. Simple to set up too.
Any after market suspension set up is going to be a massive improvement though.

Hey Roycroft do you think Hardiman like their business.... Try not to be so see though pushing products everbody knows you get for free. I remember you saying Can am are the best lol.....Now you can't give Polaris a plug

why don't you say ... I win on fox floats ...... lol because you don't

or Maybe guys at Hardiman give best service, price and advice thats why I buy all my gear there. They set the floats up just the way you like .. Heres there number ...

Cheers Husky

I've ridden both Fox and Elka and weren't given either of them.

Fox, hands down.

I agree with everything Roycroft said....

I've ridden PEP's also, great shocks but not worth the extra $$$$ or the two month wait to get them unless you are a pro level rider. Just an opinion.

I'm not disagreeing ....I'll buy another set of Foxs for the simple reason that I can make the changes on the shocks not a teck guy.

Hi Azza ,were they your PEP ,custom set up for you?
You are correct 4-6 week wait and Pros like Chris Brenton ,Ryan Lancaster,Ant Yewer ...wait for them and pay for them because they are the best true custom shock available. You get what you pay for in anything you buy.You can also get Front and Rear PEP Race shocks that start at $2700 complete custom built in any lenth long travel ... by PEP owner Wayne Mooradian that work comparable and better in some instances to the other brands.

Hijack ? No just an opportunity Mick .
I also have the all shims, seals,o rings ,lock nuts aswell.
I work in with Axis Motorsport with re-builds and they also do Anderson and Addison 2 wheeler champions .All good though glad you like your set up.
I also started a Thread on KTM and many people and brands appeared and yes even you with Canam so it's fair game I feel .
