have just recently bought a 01 660,it is in near new condition and all stock. Am getting some slight vibration through the bars and was wondering wether anyone has had the same problem. Was also wondering wether a top speed of 120kph for these machines was around the money?

Hey Jono daz here,
welcome to the site.

whats your definition of a slight vibration?
check all the easy things first like tie rod ends, ball joiints etc for any play.
jack the front up and spin the wheels by hand and check for any runout in the rim to see if your rims are straight and true. repeat with the back.
failing that im not sure without seeing it.

we had a 2001 raptor 660 and it also vibrated like hell and when we got the the gear box mod for 1st gear done the engine had been loose in the frame, just check the swing arm bolt is tight and dont use a rattle gun to tigthen as it strips the frame which holds the other end of the swing arm bolt

Does it have aftermarket handlebars . I had the first 660 in New Zealand and had a similar problem , Yamaha stripped that puppy down to the last o ring and checked and balanced every part, incl the crank.
Turned out the selling dealer was so happy to sell the first one he put a set of aftermarket bars on it for me and they were not weighted at all. When you revved it , the vibration went right through the bars and into your hands ......

You can fix it by buying a set of weight ends that screw into the ends of the bars. Does a great job. Bike shops sell them

Just an idea ????

the bike is as stock as a rock, almost feels like its generated from engine rev. anoying enough to give you some slight arm deadness if you like during the road ride to where i ride, not overly noticeable while off road.will check all mountings and so forth, not sure that it will be due to worn parts cos it still had original tyres on it with about 50 percent tread left. will have a good look thanks for your input laughing

Use to have an 01 Raptor and can't recall any vibration issues, which seems to suggest that there is an underlying reason why you are experiencing vibration. As opposed to a raptor issue.

could be a number of things, bent axle, loose steering components, loose wheel hub, dodgy replacement handlebars, loose engine mounts, bent wheel rim.

will need some more info to really get to the bottom of it.

does it vibrate whilst stationery or only whilst moving,

what modifications have been done to it. Dangerman4 said it, check all the easy stuff first.
