The fastest bike and the one that wins every year is a cr500 with 100hp and he can no doubt ride. There is also a motorcrosser with an r1 that would have around 160hp.
I havn't actually raced in the event but have seen and heard all about it ,power to weight a 10mil banshee would be almost unstopable racing around 44 gallon drums at the end of the beach for a few laps.
I would probley put my money where my mouth is if you could run unlimited class. _________________ OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed".......OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed" |

link to some photos. If you notice in the pics they use wheelie bins in place of 44 gal drums now. better than using them for beach cricket I reckon

We have a little old flat track venue down here in Victor Harbor S.A.
It's pretty much a two wheeler and sidecar club thing but they let us quads run if we get the numbers.
Quads have not been up there for a year or so now, but I believe a quad still holds the fastest hot lap recond for the venue.
Hot laps are open to anyone who want's one crack at it at the end of each race day.
Graham 'Lucky' Peterson on a YFZ450 (the old 439cc one).
I don't think anyone has broken it yet and Lucky set that record 2 or 3 years ago.
If these beach track straights are less than 250m long, between corners...
My bet is on a quad. _________________ Can-Am X Team

lol, the first race is 250m, the second is 500, the third 750...
mick hansens 100hp cr500 is in a crf-250r chassis, it probly weighs like 90kg, and he can ride the wheels off it! pretty sure it was clocked over 200km/h in the king of the beach race a couple years ago
all sorts of bikes have turned up over the years, including turbo r1's etc, they dont even go close to the cr500s and in recent years even the methanol/nitro burning 450s smoke them.
a 10mil banshee will definitely whip the quad class though, the fastest thing there last year was brooksys 4mm cheetah and he flogged us in the last race.
the question is, will a 300ft drag quad survive a whole day of 4 lap 500/750m races? _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

Look I love motorbikes.
But rooty's banshee would leave the cr500 half track over 200mtrs.
leaving enougth time to roll around the corners.
AT the end of the day it is still kind of a drag race.
They should have a motorcycle class-they do
quad class-they do
and an unlimted class -they dont ...eg buggies formula 500 quads cars motorcyle whatever to take out overall fastest on the day.
Its amazing the hells angles from the pond sand drags havent cottoned onto it. _________________ OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed".......OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed" |

first things first, i am by no means trying to start an argument, or discrediting anyone such as yourself or rootsy (have had many great dealings and conversations with both of you)
BUT, there is no way rootsy would be able to run his 10mm bansh at the beach races with the same set up that he does at the sand drags you guys frequent. 4 laps x 750m = 3.0km. actually king of the beach is 5 laps, so 3.75km. what do you think would happen to that bansh if you held it flat for that long? even your turbo hayabusa, could it withstand that punishment? mick hansens cr500 can and has for the last 13 years in a row!
at a guess, you would have to drop the timing and compression, and jet it fatter to get it to last. it would still be a rocket for sure, but i dont think it would half track a 100 horse CR5.
mick's cr5 does consistent low 10's on the quarter, anything that can half track that in 200m should have a wing mounted and be racing in the doorslammer class! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

i can make my 10mill turbodm last that race and deff a few more ,
my turbo banshee would have 250+hp,
i seen the bike race last year i was there and tell you the truth it wont be hard to build a bike to beat it,
but is is one fast bike around that track and someone needs to give the guy a bit of a challange ,
i hope we can all make it up there this year for a fun event like it was last year ill take your bike for ya ash, _________________ Roots Racing ATV's

lol i didnt know we were talking 10mm turbo dms! of course if you bring something like that its just going to wipe the field. (if it doesnt blow up)
where does it end though? whats to stop someone from putting a 600hp chev in a quad chassis? it would be probably be cheaper...
if you guys bring this artillery this year and start running quicker lap times then the bikes, you would think you would have a solid case for combining the classes the year after! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |
