Hi fellow Kiwis, If u are looking to make the move across the ditch and not sure whether to bring the toy or not ...I can recommed you do ..... it is cheaper to buy brand new bike in NZ put it in a crate and give it to a freight co and ship across , incl all your inspection and customs fees.
I saved $5k over trying to buy one locally here, and I searched dealers throughout Aust, and with the low NZ dollar , u cant loose. I also noticed the Aust dealers do not seem to be able to discount like NZ dealers can.
Also limited parts available here , suggest u bring heaps with u or find a good supplier out of the US.
Quite a bit of racing type clubs here but few trail riding clubs. I never thought id say it but i miss the Auckland ATV club. !!! And the Bombing Range !!!!!!!!!!
Anyway on a positive note it seems quads here are finally starting to become more popular , many more dirt bike shops selling all brands , incl the import stuff for the kids. Its a far improvement over the last few years and hopefully with more support we can strengthen the soprt here somewhat.
If anybody wants mor einfo or is QLD bound , look me up and ill give you what support / info i can
Cheers

Hay Aaron,
Are you going to come and watch the Queesland Quad Titles at Reedy Creek on Saturday? It would be good to have the support.
As for limited parts, I'm not sure what you mean. I've just sold a few bits to a Raptor 660 owner in Auckland
Come say g'day at the R.A.T Motorsports stand.
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim , thanks for the invite , I was planning on coming down for a look. Not really a big racing fan but always keen to support the quads.
My comment around the "parts availability" is manily around dealer spares and tyres etc. I have struggled to find any tires other than for racing , and dealers look at u funny when u ask for OEM parts. They say there is a 6 -8 week wait while they order them for u .
I cant even get a factory battery here . !!!
No problems though, The internet makes prchasing easy as.
Ill look u up if I find my way to Reedy Creek.

Hey Prokiwi,
I'm in Auckland over x-mas. Are there any good ATV shops to go visit?
Cheers

Rat, most of the good Bike shops now stock a few bits and pieces,
Ian Ffitch is a great guy but his prices are ex USA with a retail margin.
Papakura Yamaha ( Paul ) (south Auck) does a lot of quad stuff.
Henderson M/C (west Auck)does as well. He organised the Crusty demons bike.
Other than that u would have to go to Wellington to see Roger Hinton for stuff.
Easier to get on the net and buy direct from the States , u dont pay gst or Import duty that way.
Hope that helps. _________________ It's time too ride !!!!!!! |
