Any1 over WA or Kalgoolie way hear about an ATV accident that happened yesterday in sand dunes? i got a call from a mates girlfriend who called me 2 let me know a mate of mine was in a bad ATV crash. the word was my mate was on the back of a quad (dont know what make/model when the bloke who was at the controls launched it off the lip of what he thought was a small sand dune turned out 2 b a pretty big dune. it seems he lost his bearings. Anyhoot they got airbourne & my mate was tossed over the front of the bike & landed hard on the sand & in a daze wasnt aware of where the quad was & the thing came down & landed on him breaking his shoulder bone. the rider pushed himself away as the bike came down. my mate is in hospital 4 observation but is expected 2 b sent home 2day. When the girlfriend was telling me this story the 1st question was "did either of them have helmets on?" NO! & the 2nd question was "did they have any protective gear on?" NO!....hard 2 feel sorry 4 them when they dont gear up properly but i am glad no 1 got really messed up. my mate sent me a txt msg saying "i hate quads, there 2 dangerous" i replied with "thats what happens when u put a boy on a mans machine  "
But as we all know its the quad that will get the bad wrap....."always the quads fault"

MMMM The last thing I would ever do is get on the back of a quad.

no mate, no 1 was drinking. seems 2 b a case of the rider losing his bearings & went over what he thought was either a crest or a small dune turned out 2 b a big mother of a dune

Don't believe Kal has any sand dunes. Very flat and red out that way (super pit excluded) however there was a chap choppered out of Lancelin on Saturday arvo ( I think) No one seemed to know what happened. For those who don't know Lancelin it's a windy coastal town with innumerable razorback dunes and every year claims a couple of lives and or permanent disability victims.

I'm glad your mate wasn't to banged up but I'd like to know why there were two people on the quad in the first place and why they didn't have any safety gear on. It's people like this that give the rest of us a bad rap and make it hard to find places to ride.....
