It was 48.5 in the shade at our place and we put the thermometer on the ground in the sun and it was 51 and still rising. 2 of my mums cousins lost their houses in the fires and another one was only 1 paddock away when the wind changed luckily. 1 of them that lost everything was out fighting fires when his house burnt down. Dunno about the other one though. Its bloody terrible. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Sounds like we have lost Sarah's parents place at Buxton (and the Pub) they evacuated to Alexandra late on saturday arvo with their dogs and the cat and only just got out before the roads were closed. Lots of Sairs' friends up that way have lost houses at Narbethong and Marysville ( the whole town there has gone) and some of my other mates in Buxton (who don't live up there though) have had word that their house survived.
we went to Sairs' sisters place in Narre Warren in the arvo for a swim in thier pool and copped all the smoke and embers from the fire that took out 6 houses which was only a couple of streets away on the edge of the estate. _________________

Just finished watching the news, my god!!! 65 people & counting.
Fire near Beechworth is only 10 - 15 minutes from Buzz's place, we used to ride there a lot. Hope it doesn't head his way. _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

We went for a short drive last night and watched the wind catch a blaze and the flames hooted down a hill at the bottom of the beechworth gap(on the edge of the murmungee basin)_.The sky was glowing red but lukily for us it went towards Myrtleford and Mudgeegonga.Un fortunately it has taken the lives of our next door neighbors son an daughter in law. They were found this morning.
It looks like i have an hour and 45 min drive to get to work 2morrow i have to backtrack a heap to avoid fire ravaged areas. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

Just had word that Sairs' parents place may still be standing, one of the guys doing some clean up at Marysville came back to Alexandra (where all the residents were evacuated to) and found Sairs' mum, told her that when he went past their place that it looked like their buildings were still there but none of the other places around them were.
Buxton residents may be allowed back in tomorrow morning to check on their property so I'll know more in the morning. _________________

Glad to hear Sarahs parents are safe.
Sorry to hear of your neighbours buzzbro.
I believe Trevor Hedge from ATV Pod who now resides at Eildon may be evacuated as we speak.
Poor Aaron Caldwell has lost everything and now Im madly trying to find Jeanette Lindsay & Brendan and Vicky Eden. All phones are cut off in Churchill.
If anyone knows of any news please let us know. Fingers crossed they are safe
cheers

Just heard from Netty thank god.
They are fine but have lost all their riding tracks. She said fires are still bad and they cant get in close enough to see what damage is there. Jeanette will keep me posted so i will let you all know.
cheers

This is terrible. Read on another forum there have been trouble with looters. These lowlifes need to be either hung up somewhere or shot on the spot. Thoughts with all those that have been affected.

My mums cousin who thought he lost his pets and all has now heard that someone got them out of there but he still can't find them because he is back out fighting the fires. A few of his neighbours have passed away so that is just horrible. We will be sending him some money and things to get him started again once things calm down a bit. People that lit some of these fires should be tied up and slowly burnt to death like what has happened to all these people. Its bloody terrible and depressing. I feel so sorry for everyone. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Sairs' parents got back through to their property today and their house and shed both survived, the fire burnt right up to the sides all the way round. most of the town of Buxton got pretty lucky on Saturday it would seem. _________________

One of mums cousin went round the long way to his place around the road blocks and it was still up too. But the other one is gone. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"
