I am led to believe that my raptor is speed limited once you hit fifth gear. If this is so does anybody know how to disengage/disconnect this. Or is there some plug in bit that will do away with this.

I believe its a white wire, that needs to be disconnected, but really how often are you hitting the limiter in fifth gear? Id be workn on the handling of the quad first to be makn the most of the power it has, also get it piped and breathing properly, along with an efi controller you' d be suprised how much better they go when they handle. My 2c I may be wrong. cheers Stu. Oh im assuming your riding a 700.

i'll send you a link when i egt homwe shawn, there is two options
1 - unplug the sensor, will flash check engine after a while, roll quad backwards to reset
2 - cut a blue wire, link tells you how to do it.

doesn't limit your speed, just derates the engine power which in turn limits your speed

nah haven't done it yet as i keep forgetting. might do it this saturday morning whilst i'm nursing an expected hangover.

Instructions (copy and pasted)
HOW TO FIX YOUR SPEED SENSOR FOR FREE. NO CHECK ENG LIGHT FULL SPEED IN 5TH GEAR. DO NOT BUY MOD JUST DO AS DESCRIBED AS BELOW. THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. SPREAD THE WORK. AWESOME MOD. ENJOY.

1. Disconnect battery terminals.
2. Remove you ECU box (under seat drivers side). UNPLUG IT!!
3. Cut wire in harness that is all the way on the end of harness. There is a baby blue wire and a darker blue wire with a stripe. Cut the baby blue wire where ever you like I do it three inches from harness.
4. GROUND BABY BLUE WIRE (baby blue wire coming out of cdi).
5. Connect your speed sensor if it is currently disconnected. No longer matters.

You are biddind on FREE INFO what it does is increase your horsepower in fith gear only from 10 to 15 hp. thats right 10 to 15 hp. Again you will only see gains in fith gear. Easy install plug in 1 connector cut 1 wire and connect. Your ready. INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED. No check engine light will not effect any other function of the bike.

Why- if you ride your bike fast you have probably noticed that if you wind your bike out in 4th gear and click to 5th you seem to lose all your steam. Its because yamaha did this on purpose. The bikes timing is drastically retarded in 5th gear starting at 4krpm on up. they did this to prevent insane top speeds. this part eliminates the signal from the speed sensor that tells the bike it has switched into 5th gear.

its easy take 5 minutes install it go ride your bike somewhere you can go wide open safely. You will instantly notice the difference in power. If for some reason your not satisfied send it back for a full refund.

Is this only for the new '09 700R with the speedo or all the 700 Raptors?

Thanks for that wayne. I did see that on the Raptor Forum & when you read down it at the very bottom it reads "doesn't work on 09' Raptor.

So before I start chopping into things I might just try the sensor plug & see if my motorcycle mechanic can shed any light on this. Let you know the outcome soon.
