 |
|
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum but have some information that may be of interest to some of you Vic riders, especially those in the Geelong area.
I was talking with one of the commitee members from Barrabool the other day regarding the possibility of including quads in some of their practice days. The guy seemed surprisingly keen and optimistic to get us involved and fired off some emails to get the ball rolling. He suggested I put together an expression of interest and forward it to the commitee.
Now that MV are phasing out open key policies and holding more organised practice days we no longer have the problem of quads and two wheeled bikes being on the track together, we can be included as a separate class.
The club currently hold practice sessions every Wednesday and Saturday and want to continue this throughout the cooler months depending on weather and track conditions. Memberships are $120 plus an $8 fee at each ride day.
I don't want anyone to get their hopes up as this proposition is still in the infancy stages but I need to know how many of you guys are interested so I can forward this information to the Barrabool Club.
The more interest we can create the better our chances of making this a reality so Spread the Word! |

Hey Bro,
Sounds like a good thing, the more tracks to ride the better and Barrabool would be a great place to be able to practice at. You can deffinately put my name on the list mate.
Cheers
P.S. All you other quadriders out there should get behind this, it may be a longshot but its deffinately worth having a crack at! |

How do we officially register our interest?
Do you have an email address or something we can all lodge our details with? Or do we just go thru you?
I would be interested in becoming a member, provided we are included in all club days, have the same rights and opportunities as the 2-wheeler members, and there are no extra charges because of our extra wheels (hmm do i sound skeptical? You betcha) _________________ (PeteW's missus)

Like I said, early stages yet, just want to get a rough idea of numbers.
I'm even a bit skeptical at this point.
Thanks for your input, Ill keep you posted. |

I'd sure be interested as Barbabool has a great track, but I have serious reservations because my family were members there and because we wanted to ride quads there they treated us like something they would scrape off the bottom of your boot. We were told we could use the track at 8am Sat morning but had to leave as soon as a 2 wheeler got on the track. I got tired of sitting by the side of the track waiting to use it and the way none of the people would talk to me. I went to a meeting to express my interest, but was quickly made to feel unwelcome. Needless to say we never renewed our membership and we would have to wait to see if there attitude will change before becoming members agian.

Just a quick update,
My contact @ work, who happens to be the club secretary spoke to the vice president of Barrabool last week, my cousin.
Sounds like their views on quads are beginning to change. Obviously I would need to look into this further but they seemed willing to include us in their club days as a separate class but weren't sure about practice days.
The vice president doesn't want the 2 wheeled members to miss out on track time at Wednesday or Saturday practice sessions so that one or two quad riders can use the track. If we can pre organise our sessions so that a group of riders show up together then we may be onto something.
I agree with you Mary in that Barrabool memberships for quads a few years ago were an absolute joke, the track availabilty just didn't justify the membership costs. If I can't work out a fair deal with the club that gives us value for money then I will simply walk away. However, the way this sport is progressing lately these clubs can't keep ignoring us forever.
When I get back to work next week I'll hound them some more.
Aaron. |

I cant understand why they are so against us. It could work out great for them. They need more money to keep the track open & we need a track to practice on. Sounds simple doesn't it? _________________ (PeteW's missus)

Some places allow the 2 wheelers and quads out at the same time and it's fun and I can't see any problem with it, but the head honchos at MA say it's a big no no. I think in the US it's allowed, but their rules aren't as rigid as ours.

| is a bit of a joke on MA's part, they make us pay the same amount for the overpriced license, the same license that the 2 wheelers have, but we arent allowed to ride at the same places as the 2 wheelers? |
