Hi folks, I know this is a bit outside of left field but il ask anyway. Does any one know where I could apply for a job in the minning industry in WA driving Haul Trucks (I have no experance but have HR), I will also have a go at any minning job to get on site. I can start inside of a month and relocate if need be. I have found it very hard to try and locate company's to send a resume to. Love to get over to WA to taste some of those dunes and work in the mines. Can any one help. Please PM me websites or contact details of employers

Mt Tom Price is always looking for drivers but they usually only have females operating as they are easier on the gear.
There are still a few blokes driving but usually they are in the excavators etc. Like i said most dump/ haul trucks have women in them up there.

You could also try Newmont.com at Tanami Desert, they have mostly guys in the trucks out there.

To be quite honest though, the trucks are boring and most newbies start in them and progress from there.

There's more money to be had in the offshore oil and gas industry as opposed to the mining industry, you should try that avenue if it's the cash you're after........trust me thats where i am................... Very Happy

there's no dunes where the mines are, unless you want a 15+ hour trip Wink

There are still good opportunities to work at BHPBIO in Port Hedland, however this is a port facility and not a mining one. There are several new contracts kicking off in the new year which are conveyor belt and mechanical maintenance orientated. If you are that way inclined, get on the Fenner Dunlop website and send them through your details or call them on 08 9172 5560. Ready Workforce, and other labour hire companies have branches in both Port Hedland and nearby Karratha and are always looking for suitable personnel also.

I agree the site i am on put a hold on employing any more staff even casual contractors, basically if anyone leaves your department the remaining staff have to pick up the slack.
Sorry to burst your bubble but you left your run 6months too late.
Your only option is to try all the employment agencies, our prefered cotractor is Chandler Macloud.
Good luck with it but i think you will find that your up against experienced truckies already in the state.

BHP Biliton getting rid of 6000 worldwide, 3500 of that is in Australia, 1500 of them in a 350km radius of where I live and work. Despite all this the company I work for has had a record couple of months profit wise.
