all you have to do is pull the cdi box up so you can get to the plugs. You will see 3 sets of plugs I believe it is the center one you need but can't swear to it.

Look for a green/white wire take a test light and connect it to the battery ground and stick the probe into the green/white wire. Once your sure its the right wire just tap in and ground to battery.

Have the rear of machine jacked up to test. You will also not have your reverse light when you do the overide.

You will need a normally open 12 volt relay, , 4 female crimp-on spade connectors to connect to the relay, about 12 or 15 inches of 16ga. wire, and 4 scotchlock connectors to connect to the quads wiring or you could solder the wires to the quad for a little neater job. Connect one side of the switching circuit of the relay to 12v. You can connect this to the red with brown stripe wire coming from the fuse marked "back up". This way your power supply is already protected by a fuse. Next connect the other side of the switching circuit of the relay to the pale green (maybe pale blue) wire in the upper connector on the CDI unit. This wire goes to your override button. Next connect one side of the switched circuit of the relay to the green with white stripe wire in the lower connector on the CDI unit. This is the reverse light wire. Then connect the other side of the switched circuit of the relay to ground. This can be done using the black wire going to the tail light, because it is right near-by and handy. The relay can be mounted to the quad with a small screw or double stick tape just to the rear of the CDI unit for a very neat set-up. Now when you push the override button it will override the differential-lock rev-limiter and the reverse rev-limiter also. Your reverse light will go off when the button is pushed. This method retains the safety of the rev-limiters but gives you the option to momentarily override them. This also does it without extra switches and wire. Kodiak, but I think the wire colors are the same on all the IRS Yamaha's
