| Can anybody advise of the government restrictions if riding from Lancelin to Wedge Point. I want to make the ride on my quad but am not sure if there is any restrictions. |

| I got stopped by a ranger who said I needed to be road registered. I'm still not sure if the track is a legal road or not? |

I had heard that the situation had changed on the Wedge / Lancelin deal since the coast road was pushed through to Cervantes and onward. I'll phone the Gingin shire today and get it from the horses mouth as they are the shire in control of that area.
Be a shame to close it up as it's a great ride. _________________ The sun on my face, the wind in my hair & the freedom in my heart. |

I've now just phoned the shires of Gingin and Dandaragon. With regards to the offroad area at Lancelin (which comes under the jurisdiction of Gingin) all vehicles using that area must be either road registered or off road registered.
Everywhere north of that area (Wedge & Grey) comes under the jurisdiction of the Dandaragon shire and they are much more strict.
Most of their coastal area is labelled as Conservation Estate and only road registered vehicles will be allowed. They were even turning back utes and trailers carrying quads and unregistered m/c over easter.
That's it fellas.... it's all over ... Bloody shame! _________________ The sun on my face, the wind in my hair & the freedom in my heart. |

It was only a matter of time before this happened. The last 2 times I did a trip up there we had Mr Ranger come and inform us that not only were we not permitted to ride in the area, we also weren't allowed to camp there either. Now the no camping part seems a bit hazy as they tend not to bother you if you have fishing rods instead of ATV's. It's all down hill for Wedge now I'm afraid. _________________ 2005 Banshee Special Edition

I'm not surprised fellas. I have been up that way as a 4WDriver a few times and on big weekends there are a lot of people who can't bring themselves to do the right thing.
riding without helmets. even worse - kids riding without helmets
riding through other's camp site.
leaving rubbish and broken glass everywhere.
I'm not saying quad riders are the only ones, but unfortunately bikes tend to attract some real meatheads! And I think the shire has had enough of cleaning up the crap. _________________ Cheers,

I ve got a shack at wedge island and the only reason they have stopped bike going there is because i the stupid dic heads .I think they have stopped it more on long weekend because there is about 1000 motor bike that go up there and there is too many people getting hurt
But i will always take my quad _________________ www.atvwa.com
