Check this out from another forum
V64Runner replied:
Personally, I think they are a bloody nuisance, noisy and dangerous. They should be banned from public places, beaches and other recreational areas where there are children playing. 99% of all quad bike users seem to have little or no regard to public safety ,let alone their own. Only the Surf Lifesavers should be allowed to have them for rescue missions. These are not toys but lethal weapons. Farmers should be granted a permit for use on their farmlands and not on public roads. Police should be more vigilant with the view to prosecuting these menacing noisy contraptions that one day will kill or maim somebody .
This was off the exploreoz forum.I know this guy is just missinformed (and an old dickhe%d )but how can we change this public perception of our chosen sport. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

but do we have the greatest perception of 4wheel drivers? . . .
i know a beach where we are not allowed to ride the dunes anymore was as result of them making more and more tracks when the existing ones had been there for 20odd years, or so my dad told me, and so i really dont like them so much
but then we used to 4wheel drive and its fun so

you got a point there ning those 4 wheel drives cause way more damage to the environment, and are responsible for far more deaths and injuries then quads. ive been cruisin up rainbow beach in an old landy doin about 50 kmh only to get the living daylights scared outta me by fourbies that wana pass within a meter of me doin 120 odd. it was the only beach where i had to look both ways before walkin from rocks to the waters edge.
all in all every sport has morons and theres not a lot any one can do about it with out penalising the innocent. _________________ suicide bombers, if there were more people like them, there would be less people like them... |

I know it is easy to stereotype but this guy goes over the top with unfounded accusations.I have been a motor mech. involved in the 4wd industry for quite a few years.Their stories of bravado are quite interesting to say the least but they never admit to risk taking but they are quick to label us as reckless fools _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

I think this is a perfect example of IT ONLY TAKES ONE BLOODY IDIOT TO RUIN IT FOR EVERYBODY..... no matter what your sport or hobby.
SEE HOW EASY IT IS TO ALL BE TARNISHED WITH THE ONE BRUSH !!!

the thing that shits me off is they blame us for risking lives when they have 4 or 5 people in there 4x4 going over dunes and up hills that make alot of 4x4 roll over this bloke needs to pull his head out of the sand. _________________ chicks dig scars |

he said, she said, he said, Yet the greenies and bushwalkers all stick together. Yet your right buzz that is just plain stupid but fools like him wont change ever, so those 4WDers that dont mind sharing wih us, we need to stop and say hi, and give them a good track report or what ever it takes to for them to see us in the same light as they are, maybe one day... _________________ 2005 KFX700

Just thought I would add my 2 bobs worth; Do gooders and so called know-it alls who love to bag quads have probably never riden a quad or a bike in there life. Yet they would go snow skiing [ thinking that to be a safe sport] ;but several people die every year whether lost or hitting trees. Not to mention the number of major leg and head injuries that occur.Quad riders are responsible and in control and the amount of pressure applied by your thumb dictates your speed. I am an advid skier/snowboarder and see far more injuries on the ski slopes than in the bush or track. Thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |

i cant remember how many times ive been ridding at stocko and have come across 4x4's bogged in the weirdest places where you wouldnt see another 4x4 pass in hours
how happy are they when a quad comes along and they ask you to zip back to their mates camp and fetch em to help get them unbogged i bet they think the best of us when they need our help
i personally have gone back to the carpark heaps of times on my bike got my 4x4 and came back to help someone out
noone mentions that in their 4x4 forums
but doesnt matter ill continue to help whenever i can
that guy just sounds like an idiot _________________ THANKS ATVNRG - AUSTRACO |

| well i ride quads and i drive 4wds... for me they go hand in hand... in my opinion wat it comes down to is not what you drive or ride... its how big a wanker you are... this guy obviously saw a couple of idiots on quads so being just as stupid as they are started shooting his mouth off without knowing anything about them... I'm sure some quad riders do the same thing from time to time.... |

Dave and I are the same, we love quad riding and 4 wheel driving, they go hand in hand.
In SA we access a property in the Flinders Ranges that is predominantly used by 4wds and the property owners like us (esp since they can earn more money from us) but it's important to do the right thing by the other uses of the property and the owner.
When we did the Simpson crossing we had a lot of positive interest so it really does come down to personal attitude. However comments like this purely remind us of the importance to do the right thing so at the end of the day there is no substance to what they are saying, unfortunatley though there will always be riders or 4wd'ers that do their own thing regardless of others, making us all look bad.
There was an episode of Hack about a month ago taking about how dangerous quads were and how people hurt themselves seriously in the WA dunes, unfortunately at no point did they talk to anyone associated with a club that is big on safety. One of the people interviewed that was severly hurt was carrying a passenger, that sort of thing doesn't help, must admit I wasn't too happy with what I heard. _________________ I'll give it a crack!

Have you ever worked on it ,they poured the engine in then trowelled it off to fit it under the bonnet. And i hope you have the big checkbook when it's time to get those tappets adjusted
