Hi all, Just joined the forum after I heard about it from 'Wayne' up at Stockton after the drag races on Sunday of the long weekend. My mate and I ride Suzuki LT500R's we've had since new (pushing 20 years now!). Hadn't been to stockton for about 3 years but made up for it on Sunday with the best drag races I've ever seen. Unbelievable the machines which were there! The 'ol girl Quadzilla gave a great showing on the day and seemed to have no trouble showing the field a clean pair of heels up the straight. We were pretty surprised actually how competitive the dinosaurs were with the new high tech 450's and Raptors. Mine's never had the engine split, runs original everything except a full DG pipe (vintage 1991). We plan on making the Sydney to Stockton pilgrimage a lot more often now that the 'tree-huggers' have forced us to have rego - so, got to get our money's worth!! Anyway, if ya see us up there, grab us to have a chat. I reckon you'll never see such original LT500's around anywhere . . . Cheers, Brian. _________________ Suzuki LT500R 'QuadZilla' - as strong & as pretty as the day it rolled out of the showroom - my baby since new! |

Hello Brian
I remember your 200X with the 500 motor. That must be 22 years ago. See you up there sometime.

Hi Wayne, Great to hear from you. That YZ490 would be interesting to line up against the LT500. Let us know when you're up there next. I once had an ATC480R. It was a creation from Hell! We grafted a CR480 motor into an ATC250R (prolink '83 version) - would have been faster than the LT500R only the speed wobbles got to it! Don't know where it is today though. We really do get soft these days you know - I'd be happy with a stock 700 Raptor I'm sure. No kick start hassles, mixing oil and reverse - heaven!! Those were the days, down at Kurnell . . . Cheers, Brian. _________________ Suzuki LT500R 'QuadZilla' - as strong & as pretty as the day it rolled out of the showroom - my baby since new! |
