 |
|
Hi Guys,
what would be a good/excellent result from a compression test of a banshee with a healthy engine?
I just want to know, because the bike shop is going to do one, and i want to know what is acceptable before they tell me what the result was incase they try a dodgy.
Cheers |

depends whats done to it.
you said its got a shaved head, which would bump up the compression.
you also said its ported, this could lower the compression shown on a guage.
but what darren said is a good guide. they should also be within 10% of each other. (left bore vs right bore) _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

what do you mean by "new to ex av"?
ok so if its below 110 psi, it a very tired engine? and not worth it? |

haha you are going to have to learn the darren language if you wanna hang around here mate!
what i think darrens tryin to say is, 135 psi is what they are new, stock standard.
average bike with 125 psi is still ok.
anything below 110 bad. _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

what do you mean, not worth it? are you doing this test before you buy it?
if so, if it comes up low on comp, just bargain the price down, buy it, and give it a fresh top end.
at the very least it will need a hone and rings - $150
at the most it will need a bore, pistons and rings - $400
they are rough prices and not including labour. _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |
