Went for a ride yesterday it was going alright besides running a little rich, then all of a sudden it starting to be slugish low end and wouldnt idle properly,I played around with the air mixture screw and the idle that didnt make a difference.so I gave up.took it home cleaned the air cleaner, put a new plug in it and cleaned the carb.went out again today and it was running the same,it wouldnt idle at all,i would turn the idle screw up so it would sit there and idle then I would take of and then go to slow down and it would rev heaps high so i turned it back then played around the mixture screw again once again it made no difference, each time I would go to slow down it was just die on me.and its so easy to kick over now.does anyone know what can be causing this? or this a sign that it needs a top end rebuild? I put about 300+hours on it so far

If its easy to kick its a loss of compression so its probably a top end you need, Pryces Engines at Cardiff did a good job on my rebore and hone for $45.

If it is continuing to rev after you let the throttle go it could be too lean, too hot or sucking air through a gasket. Take your pick.
If it has been running good for this long I would not touch the carbi at all, rip the top end off and freshen it up.

Oh then you'll have to touch the carbi!
gotta love 2 strokers. laughing

id say shes just worn tha rings out mate,id near bet the exuast side of the rings are worn way more than the rest of the rings.Thats just my 2 cents by the way your saying it turns over heaps easy.Could also be clutch side crank seal worn or blown an sucking oil.

I got around to pulling of the head and the copper head gasket has been leaking,I check the oil after every ride and it seems to be always full.so theres me problem. Its on its standard bore size anyway so I'l go 1mm over and clean up the ports and should be going again..hopefully in a few weeks.Im gonna paint the motor all up and do a little polishing so it should look and go a bit better Smile

I think the gunmetal grey looks good on the watercooled engines.

ended up running another tank through it today and started to play around with it,Now Its got a problem with bogging low end.it was doing this yesterday aswel so i lowered the clip 4th to 3rd on the needle it made no difference today,it still bogs down until it gets in the band and top end is good.the plug is black.Im running a 160 main.its idling fine and revs out cleanly on the spot but just bogs down low end while riding
could it be to big of a main or anything else??

Thanks

Sounds weird it was not bogging and ran fine previous to the rebuild on that jetting, could be somthing else, reeds sucking air ,hows your big end seals(crank) ?.float level ?hows compression ?

Seals are fine its not burning or sucking engine oil, compression is good it starts 2nd,3rd kick.it bogged a little before the rebuild but not as bad could I be running to much oil in the tank? running about 25:1 to 10 litres at the moment
Thanks
