Bear with me here I’m not that articulate.

I have been riding or driving off road machines for 36 years and longer as a passenger. I have ridden from Honda 50’s to CR 500’s and a hell of a range in between, not forgetting Odysseys, buggy’s and 4X4 and now quads. With the exception of about 3 or 4 years as a young guy riding motor x, I have had little interest in competition but loved the wide open spaces, the dunes, the beaches, the bush tracks, its been an integral part of my life not to mention the hundreds? Thousands? of hours doing it.

I have always endeavoured to ride with consideration for the other users,
that was impressed on me by my father who introduced me to riding.

What I despise about recreational riding is the level of intelligence of the individuals that it attracts. Our riding areas have been shrinking for years, more so over the last 5 years, the beaches, the tracks, the dunes, it seams everyone wants us gone and we maintain a popularity rating somewhere under jetski’s.

Every time I go for a ride it’s there in black and white to see, the absolute pigheaded ignorance of riders. Locally we are “ only just” fortunate to still have an extensive dune system to ride on maybe 700,000sqm fronting beach, the only problem is that the housing estates are within 200 metres of the dunes and people walk down the gravel access road and along the beach, swim, fish, walk the dogs, enjoy life.

With all the available space wouldn’t you think the riders would bugger off and ride away from the closest point to the housing and away from the people enjoying the beach, draw as little attention to themselves, keep the noise down where its likely to offend, just show any initiative at all ? No incredibly they use the access track as a raceway, tear it up and race down the beach past all the fishos and kids, dogs, the family’s and make all the noise at the closest point to the housing estate, and that's just the tip of the iceberge.

After my ride today I was just sitting watching the goings on, 2 raptors, power pipes on, ripping through the car park, dunes, beach, car park dunes, beach etc, totally oblivious to the noise and obnoxious nature of what they were doing, they weren’t the only ones, just the ones that I was watching. I was thinking that it wont be long before that area is gone for us and the remaining areas also, we all get tarred with the same brush all for the sake of consideration and common sense.

It’s something to think about people.

There is a Simple saying

It takes a lot of people to keep something valuable

But only a few d-ck heads to lose it

Minorities sometimes rule , i bet you really felt like smacking him with his handle bars and making him see what he had just done,

It must be something to do with the Raptor As there seem to be similar or possibly related individuals that frequently ply there trade outside the entry to Barbagello raceway on weekends. They also seem to think it great to do all sorts of stunts with no helmets or any regards for fellow tarmack users( those legally allowed on tar ). Unfortunately like you say when people coming to or leaving this motorsport venue see this behavior we all get tarred with the same brush.
Then I realise when we are trying to get mind sets to change regarding legitamizing our sport, why we are always up against a brick wall.
Guys, if you want to do the Crusty stuff leave it for the Stadiums!

Carpark racers give me the sh#ts Mad - only good for powerslides & donuts when someones watching.

Sometimes a friendly chat helps sometimes a volleyball net or long handled shovel. Evil or Very Mad
step up to them every chance you can - they need educated.
