my mate has a rator 660 it'll idle fine but when you rev it, it'll backfire and stop, it sort of sounds like the choke it on anyone got any suggestions on how to get it reving????

Might be rev limiter usually from dicky park brake or reverse sensor.
Info below from www.raptorforum.com

Reverse rev limiter can be bypassed by removing the green and white wire under the drive sprocket, and attaching it to ground, the wire is long enough to pull back and attach to the ground post of the battery.
Above also disconnects reverse light indicator.

If your reverse light works but is not on while you see the symptoms (RPM limiting), unplug the parking brake switch connector (green with yellow stripe and black wires). It's a white connector up from and inside the left front fender. This will get rid of the problem if it is the parking brake RPM limiter that's causing your problem.

agree totally and can also be full of crap/water in the park brake lever assembly. good excuse to get rid of the park brake rubbish for a small cost to block it off and replace with a single lever.
