As i wipe off my tears I'm declaring no i will not be getting a new Yamaha this year. I don't think they changed a thing. I think i will be riding a pumpkin as soon as i can get my hands on one. looks like another trip to the US . !!!can i fit a pulled down quad in 2 sets of luggage?
PS A pumpkin is a KTM and I'm referring to the new SX models coming
out.
fourtrax (jayden) my poor misguided friend come to the light and see the error of you ways. Ditch the hybrid and i will get one for you also. KTMMMMMMMMMMM sounds good hay.

YAMAHA normally does major upgrades every 3 years, but not this time maybe it's so major it's taking an extra year. Either way they have lost me for this year at least.

what's so wrong with you suzuki if it's an ltr450 it's a great bike and depending what riding you do it's possibly the best production bike by far.

Sherlock it is a ltr 450 and it rides like a dream i love it .But there is a problem with bits of gear droping out with the oil,i found one small tooth the day before mt perry thunder cross and one smaller bit after so its sitting in the cool room waiting till i get time to pull it down.I got in touch with my dealer and he first told me there was no warranty on rmz engines and i told him its a bloody ltr 450 quad and on the web site it says six months, any way he got back in touch with suzuki and he is now telling me because it has a cheery bomb and i race it its not covered,so you work it out, its the most race ready quad for mx stock but if you race it its not covered by warranty , i am now getting confused, its a race bike but suzuki say if you race it its not covered .Hmmmmm.Any way the reason im peeeeed off is this thing has 5 hours on it and i dont even flog it.3 races old and it has to be pulled down at my expense.

contact Suzuki Australia. It can't hurt. The noisy wheel gets the oil so wing your guts out. I know my local suzuki dealer really well i will see what they have to say about it. It's up to the dealer if they look after you or not so never buy anything of those terds again. If a dealer does a limited amount a warranty's they get kick backs at the end of the year.
Most people are told no, go away, and most people do. It's only the one's that won't take NO for an answer that get what they want. At the very least they will do parts only. I will let you know on Tuesday.
What about if you take off the cherry bomb and take it to another dealer.
I will find out Tuesday.

Sherlock you make some good points there about the cheery bomb i didnt think about that one, and i think you are right about dealers some are good and some arn't.The funny thing is that i have a good relationship with our yamaha dealer as we have bought a few bikes off them and he is a really nice guy, but he only dealt in yamaha and husky, and i was keen on the new suzuki for the reason it is race ready, and i didnt have to go and spend another $5000 on a arms, shocks , axle ect,its a perfect stock bike for my level of riding, any how there appears to be a bit of a problem with 3rd gear in the 08's and i have been trying to get as much info from forums about cures for this problem but im not sure whats out there yet. I read on one site that there only getting 3 national moto,s out of a 08 tranny and 3rd gear shatters, its a common problem and they talk about trying serviced transmissions?I would rather spend more to get the problem fixed now and not worry about about stock gears chipping and shattering and having that dreaded ting sound when that bit of tooth hits your oil catcher.I'm rather annoyed at the dealers approach to all this and to suzuki's as well, what they have saved by not fixing this problem will in the end cost them a lot more in lost sales because i won't be buying another quad from them and i wouldnt buy a scratchd wrinckly old second hand tearoff from that dealer either, and anyone who reads this might also think twice about there quads and that is a shame because the rest of the quad is excelent .It seems to be a stupid approach to a problem, lets save now by pi##in off our customers, trouble is that there are so many other quality quads out there now who would wanna buy a turd . It would be great if you could talk to your suzuki dealer they might have a different approach on the matter . Cheers, Dave. Wink

www.lt-r450central.com Have you been to this site? Apparently it's a world wide problem. The pro's have a fix that requires back cutting and hardening of the gears. You can read about it on that site. most of them are wiening and jumping out of gear. They got a heap of people that had the problem ring suzuki head office and report it. They denied knowing about the problem to all of them, so they will most likely will do the same to you. fault what fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sherlock i checked out that site and it dont sound good, also found another problem there having with them something to do with the shift pin cracking the cases, but there seems to be an easy fix to to that problem with a shift pin relocator, whinning transmissions i've never had that problem, but mabye 5 hours inst long enough to get it whinning,Those yanks are really fired with suzuki some of em are talking about legal action as well, and this is what i was talking about last night with suzuki's attitude to the problem. What problem there's no problem with our quads you shouldn't have had a cheery bomb on it or you shouldn't have been riding it with paddels in the sand and you definitely should not be racing it!Fair enough to pi## a little market off like us, but to do that in the us , to there biggest customer is like shooting yourself in the foot.Stuppid!!!!!!.Also if someone has any info on wadey and where he is getting his done and who by would be really great thanks guys.Dave Smile

contact him on here user name Wadey think they are looking at getting sets made to sell ..... i think Cam just has a hardfened gear set at the moment they are using on his ltr

the 07 had less probs only when guys seemed to be modding the 07 with hi comp pistons and things they started breaking here

the relocator plate i think can be put on the 07 aswell as they have been breaking after approx 12 mths aswell Wadey said and he can get these for you as he is getting me 2

but like anything no one will cover competition purposes

imaging the red tape if you were racing and had a front end let go like a brand did at tumb pump at the wrong time and you got badly injured all models are going to have some down falls but morebloodymoney is right about the gear undercutting as lots were talking bout it at 2nd round of tri state

Yeah....OK, my statement was a bit harsh.......just having a go at ya coz your on a Yamaha.

It's common knowledge that Bill Ballance has been developing the new YFZ and it is a major update. The statement I quoted is from a Yamaha press release; I've looked but cant find it right now.........wait a few months because it's coming.

And even though I'm not a Yamaha fan I do think it will be a bit special and worth the wait.

I think this might be what you read Linc.

One thing we were a little disappointed about was that there was no mention of what was in store for the 2009 YFZ 450, but no news, can also mean good news in the near future. We do anticipate that Yamaha will be releasing information on an all-new YFZ450 later in the season and quite honestly we are quite eager to see what new changes could possibly be in store. We can only hope that Yamaha holds true to their pioneering roots and comes out with a machine that will be a top contender and raise the bar in the industry.

Can one of you go to the us yamaha web site that i provided and confirm what i have read, and that is------- the 2009 model details have just been released and there is little or no upgrades for 2009. You keep talking about them being released later in the season and that there going to be so good. Why do you think i wrote this topic in the first place. It was to tell you to go the web address that i provided and sea for your self that they are unchanged for 2009.
