hey
im having a bit of trouble with my stock throttle on the yfz450. my arm and thumb get a bit sore, and when im tired when racing it quite hard to push it all the way
does anyone know of a good replacement thats got a shorter range to push down?

I have given my 2 TRX thumb throttles to Yamaha riders.......they are supposed to be the biz.......
LTZ400 thumb throttles are supposed to be good too.

I think I've heard of running a lighter weight throttle slide spring in the carb to lighten the YFZ450 action. I reckon I saw them on ebay
I used to run a raptor660 throttle on my Banshee which made a much lighter throttle action. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

| I have just fitted the Terry Cable Twist and Thumb throttle from JMC racing. I have to reach a little far for the thumb throttle and still got pump, not as much as the standard. Seems a little to much play in the twist for my liking. Mind you it was my first ride after a 18mth rebuild. |

| Motion Pro make a twist kit for YFZ, Australia distributor is Birdman Accessories, Melbourne. Not sure if he has stock though. Most decent bike shops probably deal with him, so best get a local dealer chase one up for you, if you use one of their kits, at least you will be able to get replacement cables easily. If you want to stay with the thumb throttle, Ive tried a TRX throttle, they actually have a longer internal arm and it makes the throttle stiffer, from memory a throttle return spring off a CRF450 is the one they use to make the YFZ throttle lighter. You can also modify the internals of the YFZ throttle so the thumb lever starts actuating a fair bit earlier and then you dont have to stretch your thumb as far for higher throttle openings. Done this to Jons YFZ, seems to work OK. |

try putting a bit of stiff drinking water hose on the end of your lever, i did and it works a treat, also try shifting the whole throttle around to find a better positon _________________ 04 yfz450 |
