Hi,
On the upper A-Arm My "bottom ball joint" near the wheel has movement and I think it should be replaced;
I called Bikebiz my local Yamaha dealer and they said I would have to purchase the whole a-arm and the ball joint is a part of that which was quoted over $400.
My question is does this sound correct ? Is this what it is called and are Yamaha correct in saying this ?
Surely you don't have to buy the whole a arm to replace this part please give me your comments. Thanks |

Hi Red, first up Bikebiz is the most expensive bike shop in Australia. I bought a bottom a-arm for my 660 from a Yamaha dealer and it cost $300
and yes you have to buy the whole arm to fix the ball joint. I think Allballs Racing supply balljoints for Honda and Suzuki and I was looking at trying to replace the Balljoints with Allballs but you then had to machine the a-arms to get them to fit. You can get a whole set of a-arms from Herman Racing delivered from the States to your door for less than $600 with replaceable ball joints. Send Quad an e-mail and ask him he is a bit of a Jack of all trades and he may know of a cheap alternitive. Best of luck
