no a banshee top will fit banshee bottom or rz350/250 bottom. It will not fit the earlier rdlc bottom end

Yes it will fit ............but you have to weld the front of the block ,exhaust end so the base gasket fits correct.
Then get it milled flat .

So the coolant weep out of the front of base gasket.

I have dun that it works and still runs years later.

an rdlc350/250 (non power valve)uses a totally differant bolt pattern for the cylinders to the rz350/250(power valved motor)/banshee.

The rdlc bottom uses same pattern as early tz250/350/700/750 engines. I know this as many years ago i built an engine for the banshee consisting of 2 cylinders off a TZ750, they would not fit banshee bottom but bolt directly to an rdlc bottom end. The crank shafts are also different. I needed a new crank for the rd bottom end and the banshee hot rod crank would not fit the cases.

Where did you guys get this info from that it would fit? if you have been reading pommy sites then they call there rz350 an rd350 but as far as we a concerned in australia, the release of the powervalved motor was called an rz not rd

the question was

DOES ANY KNOW IF A 98 BANSHEE TOP END WOULD FIT ONTO AN 81 RD350 BOTTOM END

the answer is yes

a tzr250 is a completley diferent moter ( crank fed carbs )
i dont even know why you would confuse the situation with this.

hey guys..yes its easy to get confused..
rd350lc 1980-81 is not compatible with the banshee..altho the frame engine mounts are the same..ie u could bolt a rd350lc complete engine straight into a banshee
rd350lc also share the same basic engine lay out as early tz350 and 750,(yes 750 4 cylinder 2 stroke.!!Smile ) as well as air cooled rd350 engines..ie u can bolt tz350 or 750 top end to rd350lc..
rz350 and banshee are the same and will direct bolt on..i know as i have a rz350 with banshee top end...main differences are power valves, sight difference in gear ratio and different stator cover
the confusion lies because in the u.k they call rz350s=rd350s this can also be the case in the states and japan..
tzrs are post 86 and share the same engine of the tz250s of that era..i hope this helps...yamah are a funny bunch..its odd to think that an engine cases layout are almost the exact same since early 70s to 2000s

p.s a cheap alternative to after market adjustable timming plates for banshees...just use a standard rd350/250lc..its the same thing..
