Do you have any info on how he does that or who he goes through ?
I've asked the dealers in the US and they will sell one and crate it up no worries it's just when you get to Australian customs, the import tax would kill you. |

There is no import duty on anything from the us as the fair trade agreement is in place , but you will have to pay the gst _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

there is no Import duty as long as the bike is made in the USA and you can prove it with a certificate of origin from the supplier. i have imported about 30 quads from the USA and it is sometimes pretty hard. _________________ www.austraco.com |

I have imported mini's, race quads, farm quads, 2 wheelers and even jet ski's.
Australian customs are pretty hard to get one with and they always screw me over. i think 3 of my containers i had to unpack at the doc's because they wanted to re-clean the atv's even though i had steam cleaned them in the USA and showed them pictures and they always charge extra for this and then charge you more storage fees
stuff you have to have to import is...
USA original title of purchase
USA purchase invoice
fill out the AUS government forms and provide specs and pic's of the quad
and make sure the quad has no dirt on it anywhere, if it even has a small bit of dirt on it they will make you pay them to re-clean it at the docs and it is not cheap.
then you have to pay GST and customs import fees
it would pay to find a customs broker to sort all this stuff out for you it is a real pain in the but.
also make sure it is crated because i have had some small amounts of damage to ones that came over uncrated.
and what ever you get quoted on freight add about 30% more because there are always fees you have to pay that no one tells you about.
in the end i stopped importing quads because there was to much stuffing around if you do it once for your self it is OK but if you plan to make money it dosen't really pay off.
hope this helps you out _________________ www.austraco.com |

Thanks for all the info that will help for sure, i found a guy that imports cars he said he charges $300 a cubic meter. I was only looking to import one for myself but if it goes ok then a few mates were keen to get one as well.
I guess ill just have to be the test dummy. |
