both are top of the line and you would be happy with both, just take each one for a test ride and see which suits you better

So far 9 people have voted but haven't explained there reasoning.

7 for KTM & 2 for Can-am. Has Len got 7 aliases to vote 7 times?

yea i would like to take them for a test ride thing is the dealers here would need to order in one and they not happy to do so unless i was to buy it at the end. so makes it hard. And yea was hoping people would not just vote but would say why they voted for that make. i know the ktm's are a nice quad but they are big $$$$$$$ so would like too hear what people are thinking or am i better to go with a yfz450r

depends on lots of things, your weight, height, budjet, warranty, your dealers reputation.canam is really backing the atv scene, we should be backing them.but iam 2m high and 135 kgs at least so i need at least a 500cc for power to weight ratios reasons. i wish canam would bring out a 500 to 550cc bike. i find these sizes move revy.the 660cc upwards do get power to ground but seem to be drawn out and very torquey.they want to wheel stand all the time.

As others have said, try before you buy. It really is a personal thing.
If you are a 2 stroke rider the Can Am will probably suit you more, where as the KTM will suit someone who is used to low down torque.

no brainer really, ok a pop rivited bike vs fully welded, a proven race engine vs a little known engine (rotax), there not a can am motor, ive ridden the 525 and they go everybit as good as anything out there, raced against a can am ds450 and don't think much of them, they sound flat and don't look all that impressive, it is only my opinion as i ride a 300cc 2 stroke gasgas quad, you won be dissapointed by ktm.

ahahaha

the crap brand "bombardier" also own
evinrude outboard's, ski-doo and sea-doo as well as can am.
i believe that buell (the sport division of harley-davidson) also use a rotax engine in their new bike!

i voted for KTM because (even tho they are 2 different bikes) the 525 is better set-up for the average rider while i personally thing the can-am is better suited to the motorcross scene.

They also own a lot of planes and trains. They are one of the biggest companies in the world. If they are crap I don't see how they got that big. Very Happy

Rotax also make nearly every 2 stroke motor put into a Formula 500 speedway openwheeler

Having previously owned a Rotax motor( ds 650 ) and two KTM's (520 and 525) and now back with Rotax (DS450), I will vote for the Rotax purely on reliability. I have never had a Rotax motor fail me but I have had two failures with the KTM motor used in the quads. The 520 motor never missed a beat and according to Jumbo Danny is still purring like a kitten.
The KTM motor is very exciting in stock form. The DS 450 motor is very flat and has virtually no low down torque. This is remedied by a high comp piston, Power Commander, better air filter and a good exhaust.
In Western Australia ( Perth ), KTM spares are available over the counter and there is a depot in Perth. Can Am hold virtually no stock of even the simplest stuff and some of the common stuff still has to come from Canada.
There is also more choice of aftermarket stuff available for the KTM than the Can Am.

Rivets v's Welding...
Can-Am borrowed the riveting technology from their involvment with Boeing, because most welding pocesses introduce stress in any metal... especially in aluminium... and especially 'fully' welded joints.

As has been said, ride them both first, then choose Smile

If you're in SA, you can have a ride on my XMX.
