My local Yamaha shop has a GYTR exhaust to YFZ450 for $400. They say its on sale. Is it really cheap or just not a bad buy?

Anyone running one of these care to comment please? I have been told they are excessively loud.

Cheers

I have a mate with one on his and you can't be behind him as it is too loud, the price is o.k though and you can always buy the quiet plug for it of coarse,

I have not heard a quiet or really a good note come out of one yet..

You can always get a motoworks one for $495 anyway and they look better and sound better, no bark until you really open them up... laughing

there is nothing wrong with gytr a good all round pipe and why not consider a HMF exhaust as well they are great to and as for being a bit loud thats what you get when you by an aftermarket (sport race exhaust) Rolls eyes

I beg to differ about getting a lot of noise, there is noise and there is note, I can't stand the loud noise but a loud impressive note is always good...

But at the end of the day you get what you really want, I have tried a few different pipes and are happy with what I have now...

i agree if ya gonna spend $500 on a muffler go a HMF and buy a quiet core for it so then ya can have best of both worlds a quiet core is only round the $30 mark and only 3 screws out to slip it in so easy as to fit and remove

and the hmf has a loud mean note ...... well does on a LTR i can vouch for that

Agreed, there are a few ltr's running at the moment and one in particular sounds crap, the others have a deep beautiful note, especially when you hear them barking in the thick tree area's, I like a noise that gets me excited and not reaching for the earmuffs... eek

We should probably all learn to come down a bit on the noise levels.
I'm sure GCR's will drive the dB's down as the years progress.

The South Coast MX track here in SA has had to completely ban quads because of one of those wonderful neighbour issues. Sure they are back to even motor bikes have to be under 250cc, but no quads at all.
Apparently, a few years ago the old lady from up the hill stood there at the fence at a club day and watched a Quad roost the top of a berm at full noise with a loud ass slip on. Most people there probably thought it was pretty cool. But she didn't... and she actually told the judge that story during the process of trying to get the track completely shut down.

The track is still sort of half open these days, but quads are completely banned. Even Junior 90's.

She associated quads with more noise (and dust) and killed it for all of us.
If the quads that day had stock pipes... maybe we'd still be there.

I think most ride spots would be subject to some of that sort of pressure, so maybe put a bit of 'quiet' thought into choosing your slip on wisely.

I have 2 mates with the GYTR systems...

One on a 450 one on a 700, they are no louder than a yoshi...

All are not much louder than my stock pipe with the baffle out of it...as a comparison...

It is very hard to follow any of these bikes though, if you travel in a small pack one after the other, none of your mates will want to be behind you, when you hit it, it will near deafen them, with my helmet on i try to stay a fair way behind as it kills my ears...

But nice quality pipes and easy to keep clean with no staining and you have yourself a good price in my opinion....
