It was so close to nationals last time because it was kind of last minute and the club got stuffed around by the original venue where it was going to be held. They are planning to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get there. Smile

alright ladies, here is the latest.

the committee has been working on having the state titles on August 9/10th. The track is yet to be confirmed also, but were trying to secure a track in CQ. This date should not clash with anything! if you have concerns that it does clash with another 'big' race let the committee know asap....
Of course this is still being worked out and im sure once its secured John and the rest of the committee will let everyone know.

Hey dillon66, have suggested this already. *my opinion* Thoughts are not enough representation from CQ, I disagree with this when you look at the states last year, take out the southern riders and the CQ area would have provided at least if not more than, a quarter of the riders, and from what I remember placed fairly well in most classes. How many more of our northern brethran do you think would have turned up had the states been further north. I agree with the idea we need to entice the southern riders to raise the level of competition and increase the junior numbers but firmly believe if we look after our own backyard the standard of racing will be high enough that the mexicans won't be able to stay away no matter how far north the state championships are. Have been talking to you know who from Backwater and we have been thinking with the amount of racing available in CQ this year we need to approach the appropriate bodies about the possibility of running our own mini CQ series. It could be held at Clermont/Emerald/Blackwater and possibly Rocky. Between Clermont and Moranbah alone we now have at least 10 ladies keen to race. I think we certainly have enough numbers for our own "A" class. All we need then is a clubman class which is where I really think the largest potential to grow our numbers is. We all now once you get Mum and Dad racing in come the kids to. I know a few fellas over this way really keen to do some racing but don't want to step in with the big boys straight away.It would be a great opportunity to show the strength and numbers of quadders out this way.

yer well said thats what we need to do. theres a bit happening this year what we need to do is get good numbers to these meetings and show that we do have a heap of numbers. not sure how we would go with the series i would say the clubs would be keen but we need som one to organise it i would if i could. on other thing to im tryin to get all the lads to join queensland quad riders to show them we have a heap of guys out here.

Dingo. Would the ladies you mentioned come to the races if they had there own gate drop in the same race? The guys could go and then the ladies straight after. I dont think the club would mind and then the ladies dont have to worry about some bloke giving them a nudge or 2 in the first corner. Just a thought. Smile

preferance from the majority would be to have a stand alone race. most would be still fairly intimidated getting lapped etc. by the fast guys, majority of the ladies are at a fairly similar skill level which is not overly fast at this stage *not bagging them at all just stating the facts* so I think close racing between them is very likely. if we could get the numbers I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem for them to have their own race.

hey dingo if there is that many riders out there what happened to all of u when gum valley was on its right on ur back doorstep and u didnt show up.there were guys that drove 8 plus hours to race even though it got washed out it was a great weekend for all. So maybe we should all get off our butts and start supportting more clubs in queensland and not just the ones that are only 1 or 2 hours drive from our lounge chair. the more clubs we support can only help to get more riders interested in this sport.

Lots of indecision with all the rain around. personally I had work commitments, a few guys here with kids had club commitments, bmx etc. and the majority of ladies here are at the begginers stage so without a stand alone race for them they will not race in with the boys at this stage. Oh and a few were just a bit intimidated by the track, I could slot into that class as well eek eek what I'm trying to suggest here is basically fitting in with what you have said Support, Support, Support. We need a set of dates for races throughout the year that count towards an overall winner. Already this year between Rocky/Emerald/Clermont/Blackwater there are 19 events scheduled (with more to be added) some on the same weekend. Add to that the state titles and some 1 off events that grab your interest (myself I would like to go to Serenity Farm). It's silly to think we can fully support every event so what I'm trying to do is get a commitment from a core group of riders that will turn up to designated events. I think a womens class (stand alone race) and a combined "A" grade/clubman class (race together, score separately) is easily doable. Maybe you guys up there would be interested in being involved. We could race a few meets your way as well. Maybe pick out 1 race meeting from every club and make it count towards the end of year results. would need a commitment from the clubs as well to give us 1 meeting per club when we could run with more than 1 class. could be a good chance for clubs to dip their toes a bit deeper in the quad bucket. I think the clubman class is an important part of it all. It might entice the average Joe's who can't afford/don't want to travel out for a race. If we want this to happen this year I can't drag the chain for long so all suggestions are most welcome laughing laughing

Hi Huskygoat
I spoke to Motorcycling Qld this morning and they told me that as of yet they have not recieved any applications from any promotors/clubs to host the 2008 Qld quad M.X. championships. Any promotor/club that is interested in hosting this championship should call M.Q. (Raylene) on 07 3281 2255 and ask for the application form so as it can be presented to the M.Q. motocross sub-committee for thier monthly meeting and they decide who will be awarded the 2008 Qld quad M.X. titles. Hope this is of help to you guys and helps you understand the proccess of being awarded such a championship.

Hi vjcrose
Well ........................... because the Clermont club where the only club to submit a proposal too Motorcycling Queensland to host the "2008 Qld quad M.X Championships" they have been granted the rights to host it in the 2nd or 3rd weekend of August.

So....Clermont it is CONGRATULATIONS CLERMONT M.C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Derek. And while I have your attention just thought I would let you know I will be ringing you to try and get a general understanding of the front end set up I should be running on this funny looking, low to the ground, yellow framed Banshee which I am told you built. It will be hitting the race track this year. Evil or Very Mad

Hi Mic
If you are talking about the bike that I think you are taking about then be very very careful as this little baby does not play well with others !!!!!!!!!
If it is my 2003 banshee then you have got a bike that made more records (some still standing to this day) than Elvis Presley. This is also the bike that kept ALL of the big dollar "point and shoot" Raptors safely at home away from King of the mountain and Maryborough dirt tracks until it was sold and then dissapeared into obscurity until now. I would appreciate a look at or photo of this machine to verify if it is the original, the original had the front portion of the seat removed to allow the rider to locate his massive oversized testicles which were an integral part of this machines formidable and unquestionable pedigree ! ! ! ! ! laughing laughing laughing

Yes Derek it is the original that you built, I wont send you a photo becaus you will cry over the current visual state of your pride and joy. Not to worry, it is still in great running order and I will be prettying it back up so you wont want to stab your eyes out when you look at it. laughing The missing/removed part at the front of the seat was filled by the quads current owner, (we wont say why) I am lead to believe you know him well and I may be borrowing it for the NQ Dirt Track series (still havn't spoken to Mark about it). Cool
