 |
|
Hey ppl, need some advice on a Light mod for my Raptor 700.
I want to power a 600watt (28v, 22amp) light, off my Raptor 700. Do you think this would be at all possible?
Using a transformer maybe? Or I heard about getting a light coil that could power 600+ watts? I really wouldn't know were to start, so any help is appreciated.
Thank you. |

its the 28v part that is the problem before the wattage, I'll assume at that voltage that it is a mini Aircraft Landing Light (ACL)?
the way we use ACL lamps in TV and Concert work is to run 8 in series to get it to just over 220v AC then you are looking at an easier conversion.
why not just get some 12v Rally Lights or a HID kit would be easier (and cheaper) than trying to convert the voltage and get the supply for the wrong kind of lamp. _________________

the voltage is not the problem, its acheivable. The the current draw on 600watts is thou, your charging system will never do it.
What do you want to do? Increasing the wattage or number of lights on quads is usually not possible without upgrading the stator and reg. They can however be rewired to get full battery voltage to the light which will increase output or go hid(expensive thou) |

hey ty for the advice.
I really want to use this 28v lamp I got, I'm sure it is a ACL. Boy its bright.
Money isnt an issue with this idea. So what parts would i need to replace/upgrade on my atv? Or is this really not possible?
With HID, what about running a few (3-4) 12v, 35watts?
thanks. |

| Does anyone know what the limit in amps at 12v you can run off the raptor? |

you wont be able to run much more than the wattage of the stock lights, most bikes charging systems are designed to handle what they have to and thats it.
If you want better lights then i suggest upgrading the wiring(cheepest option) or going hid(dearest) |
