At $5000 it hasn't reached the reserve, it could be $9999 for all we know, and with a $10k buy it know it doesnt sound unrealistic for someone who has been out and bought a 450 cause it seemed like a good idea at the time but now realizes he cant afford it (or maybe his Mrs informed him politely that he couldn't)
You should always be cautious anyway but I don't think it looks like a scam.
Contacting him and ask for his phone number and organize an inspection, that will sought it out.

In situations like that , where a bike is for sale ,,, i can strongly suggest before anyone buys a second hand quad and or two wheeler, that they call there respective registration branch , ie victoria would be vicroads and conduct a revs check which means register of emcumbered vehicles, it shows if any vehicle has any finance of any sort through any financier ,,as if purchased and finance is owing ,, you would not be entitle to the item in question.

Following is a link which will help anyone and this is mostly Australia wide if you would like further information please dont hesitate to contact me as i will be only to happy to assist

http://www.revs.nsw.gov.au/

revs checks can be conducted on engine number and vin number , registration is not neccasary
