Seems I prematurely removed the above thread last week with the assumption that all on the forums were behaving and playing well together nicely.
Forums work best when all involved take the time to respect each other's opinions, and when discussion doesn't flare up due to poorly informed comments being made, especially about other members of the site, companies in the industry, or sponsors (or in the case of this site potential sponsors) of the forums.
So if you can please take note of the guidelines when posting, that would be appreciated.
If you have thoughts on the guidelines, please either discuss your thoughts here, or alternatively, drop me a PM or email.

Admin,
It seems to me that most of the "inappropriate posts" are done by new members of the forum. Here in lies the problem, I believe that there should be a way of "verifying" new members before they can post so people can be made accountable for their comments. Current members should have to sponsor new members to eliminate this issue.
This is what is done on the LS1 forum (V8 Holden owner’s forum) and although I am not personally a member I have been told this is how they solved their issues with bad members who may have ulterior motives.
Just my 2 cents worth.

this already exists, moderators/admin need to "approve" members first post, in which if it seems reasonable they will be "auto-approved" for the remainder of the time on the forum....
Has saved ALOT of inappropriate junk and spam and filtered a few members who just want to stir the pot... |

In most forum communities I'm registered on, it's generally the community itself that does the moderating and filtering of problematic members, either through actions of moderators, or through the eventual flaming of the troublemaker - and I'm happy to have that as the core of this forum.
The approval system Ozzy84 mentions was originally for removing spam, but now that spam is almost at zero (finally!) I'm leaving the approvals in place just so that new members posts can be highlighted and seen while they get their bearings.
However, with either system - approvals or sponsoring - there's nothing to stop an established member from reeking havoc along the way.
At the moment I'm happy to leave the moderation process as it is, and hope that new members can constructively contribute rather than slanderously defame others - be they individuals or businesses.
