 |
|
I recently took my sons up there on a weekday, we were the only people in the dunes or so i thought, until the local police on there bikes pulled my boys up then followed them back to me for a chat, alas we had no rego, i then asked him if he knew where we were was also illegal (we were in the dunes and not in the defined area as per national parks) AND EXPLAINED I WOULD NOT BE PAYING UNTIL ALL WAS SORTED OUT WITH NATIONAL PARKS ,THE ABORIGINALS , COUNCIL, RTA, THE GOVERNMENT AND WHOEVER ELSE HAD THERE FINGER IN THE MESS he virtually told me he would look into it and let me know and bid me a good day, he never got back to me so i then chased it up at waratah station and was told that they had not booked anyone all year and it was as they ,say all to hard because if it really comes down to the fine point of law and if all rules are followed .........so here is how it pans out.
1 vehicle to be registed and have a permit
2 according to the law you must also hold a bike licence? ( now that throws a spanner for most folks including kids) now is a quad a bike? who knows!!!!
3 stay in the defined areas as set by national parks
4 also did you know there is a 40 kph speed limit in these areas
These issues really need to be addressed before the national parks get to strong a hold ....have you noticed all the fences they have put up already ...there will be no stockton before you know it.... |

sounds like you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, 1 of those 1 in a million shots,
The recreational area for us is just ridiculous it placers us in spots were we annoy everyone on the beach, from the entrance from lavis lane to the ocean and then only along the coast line were all the fisho people go and people camping and relaxing on the beach, its just dumb @SS planning, ya get the rego ya get the permit ya do ya best but nothing pleases em and ya go home with a $1000 fine, The labour state government for nsw just introduced there new crim policy which gives out on the spot fines to offenders instead of sending them to court, its a bloddy joke, someone breaks into your car now and they get court its only a $250 fine and you get left with the damage and is up to you to repair or use insurance no matter how extensive the damage, break and enter $300 on spot fine thats it no court for the offenders, and were looking at $1000+ for just no permit and rego, is just a load of crap, _________________ "Its Only A Flesh Wound !!!"

At least they are not going to close it ,They can put up all the fences in the world ,but they need to police it every weekend sat and sunday .I hope that is in there budget?????.
I personally love to ride the basin ,If it is managed properley We all should try and stay in the rules they have set out for us..

Hi ash
you know toll owns the basin, and we all know we are really not supposed to be there(private property) and now we all know we are not to ride in the dunes,(private property) it is all a hole lot of BS ......but we are allowed to annoy all the fisho's on the beach but at no more than 40kph .... these national parks guys will be out for the $$$ very soon..they were there last weekend....its the begining of the end ....but lets hope not... everyone needs to stick together |

please explain to me if i,m wrong ,
i was always under the impression that the police had no durisdiction on the beach , all-be-it , rescue and accidents . i was told many years ago that police had no ( legal right on the beach because it was not a public road ) and that they cannot fine you . the rangers were then handed power to be able to fine you under the national park act .
now , i,m totally confused . but , me being who i am , i have no intension of changing what i do until somebody can get there act together.
every week i hear something totally different about stockton beach and its making me dizzy.
come on fellas , i,m not the smartest bulb in the house but i,m wiling to give all my free time to find out and help the guys already up to their eye balls with there own work to get this show on the road . as i said , point me in the right5 direction and give me the ball, i ,ll run with it.

hi nick
the police as they told me have the right to enforce the law on any open land that is why they can book you on your dirt bike around sugarloaf even though it is private property (mines etc) it is not fenced and is accesible to the public ....many have gone to court on the assumption of it being private land ...apparently this is the wrong assumtion and they have lost |

| Yeah they gave us a little more area to ride but why is it the 4wd's get unlimited access to all of it including the so called vegetation area north of lavis? If this vegetation is so vital to dune management then why allow anything in there at all. |

| call me cynical but alot of 4x4 magazeines etc etc use the beach , as would 4x4 training organisations and tour groups . They pay big bucks to a certain group for the privilage - you probaly smell the stench of hypocrocy.............. |

| Vegetation my ass! Most of it is the imported pest "bittou bush" (commonly called salt bush) which I am unfortunately very allergic to. I know that up around Port Macquarie they have an annual bash to try and eradicate the crap. |
