I've just got a free set of Herrmann a-arms from my brother for my yfz 450. They are long travel version but I have standard set of shocks. If i run these a-arms and standard shocks will it break or wear anything important?

only the bottom of your frame laughing

it will sit too low with that setup, you will need the longer shocks in there.

Ahhh.....okay, just a bit serious. Oh well i'll
give em' back to my brother. I'll just get a
standard travel set. I also need a new frame
Mad mine has an almighty dent in it that I
didn't realise it had till I pulled the skid plate
off. That will cost me alot I can imagine.

If you did not notice the dent until you took off your skidplate, it must not have affected the handling. Replace the dented part with a new tube or just leave it alone.

No it hasn't affected it at all, but it just looks really bad and is starting to rust. It is the beam that runs under the motor. It is really twisted and contorted and now rusted. Would it be easy to get replaced? And how much would it be to get the frame gusseted?

You might like the std shocks with the long travel arms if you are looking at flat track or speedway.

The frame sounds ugly if it is twisted. Any good boily / welder / engineer should be able to help you. If you cut the damaged piece out and the frame does not spring anywhere, it could be very easily replaced.

good luck.

Yeah I spoke to the local welding group about it and they
said they could do it no problems, I also asked them about
getting it gusseted but they don't know enough about it to
do it safely. Still looking in other words.

Cheers for the ideas bullet,
Riz
