i know on the banshee a arms the ball joints do not come out
many people powder coat them still with the joints in there, however it is a bit of a "hit or miss" affair.
i know several blokes who had to get new a arms coz the heat from the powder coat process ruined the ball joints.
be careful! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

I have 2 packed the A-arms on our YFZ & Banshee & I reckon it holds on & wears better than powder coat. Looks better & you can pick any colour that can be thought of too. You can get any gloss level & enen a variety of surface finishes.
Good luck _________________ 06 LTZ400

yeah was thinken about just spraying it. did you fully sand the old paint of or what did you do to prepare it? and when you put the rubber things back on the ball joints is it just a matter of packing them again with grease or is their a special way?
thanks _________________ BENNO |

We had access to bead blaster, so that made it pretty easy to clean up. I am pretty sure a good sand will be ok if the paint you leave behind is holding on well. Thats all we did to the frame of our Banshee. It was far too big for the cabinet of the bead blaster.
Didn't take the boots off the ball joints. Just taped them up.
Primed everything with a preasure pack of etch primer (good brand).
I forget how much it all cost. But painting in 2 pack is dead easy. I'm no pro painter & it came out tops.
Good luck. _________________ 06 LTZ400

Also, you will get advice from your paint suplier, but your gonna need primer, thinners, paint & the exy one is hardener. Hardener was only exy because I had to buy 1 litre ($60). The minimum amount. Some dealers might be willing to sell you a smaller amount. You don't use much of it & it goes off in the can if you let air get to it. What you do is displace the air in the can by filling it with new glass marbles. You can use the rest later then.
Find a suplier that is willing to give you the advice you need.
Once you get a taste for this it won't stop. _________________ 06 LTZ400
